Cougarlady - I have been excited about the Woolly Mammoth project since I first heard about it - and I've been waiting in anticipation for thr day when they announce their achievement! Though it would only be a hybrid, I still think that's so incredibly exciting. And yes, it makes perfect sense that old bones and fossils would have been assumed to be something else by ancient civilizations who didn't know what they had! I've always thought that dragons (which seem to be widespread through different ancient cultures) also very likely were dreamed up by people in response to the discovery of a large dinosaur bone. Seems logical to me! Wikkleshamrocks - fantastic list!!! Seems like many of us have common themes in our interests!! We're an intellectual bunch, no doubt about it!! ;D

But it couldn't hold a candle to Jurassic Park. JP was like my childhood dreams come true... not the people being chomped in half, mind ya... just the cool stuff about seeing dinosaurs for real. LOL. So majestic. OMG YES !!! To me Jurassic Parc was a dream come true as well! Because I read the book first and for years I was dreaming for this to be adapted as a movie and *DANG* as I heard about the movie ...omg I squeeeeed like crazy! LOL It was like an epiphany for me. I am such a dino fan, since my childhood, had collected and drawn thousands of dinosaurs.... awwwwww... My favourite ones were always the raptors !! Velociraptor, Deinonychus... As well as these fast runners Struthiomimus, Gallimimus etc @ Bloody Rose: Yes ! These "documentaries" were stunning as well !! I loved them! And they were a little bit more accurate as the Jurassic Parc dinos, a little more scientific LOL But I understand that the dinos had to be changed a little for the movie's effects. @razz: Fassbender is such a hottie !!! After Cillian he's my second favourite actor.

I know what you mean about the raptors, too - they're so cool. It's funny, because I remember that people said that Jurassic Park took too many liberties with dinosaur facts; that Velociraptors were not as large as they appeared in the movie. But soon after the film came out, a larger raptor was discovered - Utahraptor - which the scientists jokingly called it Spielberg's Raptor for a while. LOL. Love this thread!!! So neat to see what we are all interested in. There's a lot of overlap amongst our interests! Ashleyrose - where in Florida do you visit?? Which beach? It might be fairly close to me!

Haha I love dinosaurs too ! When I must look after my cousin (he's 7 years old) we always end up in a very interesting debate about a very interesting issue: why dinosaurs are more awesome than anything else. Let me tell you he's spreading the good word at school and he has already made a bunch of friends just as passionated as he is - and as I am lol. - English poetry - a lot. I mean, prose is fine too. Oscar Wilde is my favorite person ever.
- The english language. I know my grammar is far from perfect, but I just love how it sounds. I've always imagined languages as people, as far as I remember. French is a very tall, very skinny old man with small evil eyes and long fingers. English is more of a small and nice looking lady, with rosy cheeks, a pointy nose, and soft-looking curves. French is that mean-looking man, because it's a very complicated language. You know what I mean... My father is a writer and I must go to him every single day to ask him about a word or something - and I'm french! I can't imagine the torture learning french must be to the rest of the world!
- Dinosauuuurs \o/
- Stargate SG1, stargate Atlantis and other sci-fi shows, like Firefly (OMG THAT ONE IS AWESOME), V (the one from 2009, well actually just the first season), Heroes, the X-Files (I'm such a Mulder nerd), Battlestar Galactica, etc.
- UFOs, I just love that stuff. Not that I'm into the little green men, it's just that I like how it feels like to think we're not alone in the universe.
- Quantic physics; when I was 5 years old, I was able to recite all the names of the planets and their satellites from our solar system, along with their width, their distance with the sun, why they were named like that, what they are made of and when to look at the sky to see them (well for the ones you could see). That is all because of the telescope-thingy my father gave me. But I just SUCK at the math part. xD
- INDIANA JONES - I mean I know all the movies' lines, I've read all the novels and comics, I've seen the whole Young Indiana Jones Chronicles series, I've played all the games from Fate of Atlantis to the Staff of Kings... I've always wanted to be Indiana Jones. Always. And then my friend bought me the official hat. And that was like the best gift ever LOL
- 30 Seconds to Mars - They're awesome \o/
- Celebrities: Tom Hollander, Adrien Brody, Michael Sheen, Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, John Cleese, Harrison Ford, Heath Ledger, Jared Leto, Johnny Depp, Nathan Fillon, Neil Patrick Harris, Tim Burton, Joe Flanigan, Paul McGillion, Torri Higginson, Shannon Leto, Jack Davenport, Rachel McAddams, Pierce Brosnan... This is a long list xD
- Star Wars. I mean, I just can't help it. I can't help but roar along with my nerdy friends when I see the title with the music, gosh, that music...
- MMORPGs, like SW:tOR and World of Warcraft. They're too awesome, and sometimes they're so awesome I forget there is a real life out there LOL
- RPG forums. I've loved roleplay since I can write. I chose Cillian Murphy as an avatar for a majority of my characters xD
- Music instruments. I'm not gifted, I'm not that good at music, but I like to learn a song or two on every possible instrument. So far, I know clarinet, accordion, piano, guitar, sitar, guitern (medieval guitar), celtic harp, hornpipe, tin whistle, various kinds of flutes, bass, drums, djembe, saxophone, trumpet, military drum, and that's it. But like I said, just a song or two on each.
- Old rock'n'roll and "old" music in general, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Bill Haley, Buddy Holly, and the Beatles, Queen, the Police, etc.
- Ireland. I've been in love with that country since the first time I saw it on TV. I was like 6, but I still remember that moment.
- Video games. I can't help it... Recently I dug my old Nintendo 64 out from under a pile of old stuff, and now I can play the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye and Super Mario 64 with that finger-breaking controller, like back in the good ol' days \o/
- Computer stuff. I guess that makes me a geek, in a way... I find a very expensive computer more interesting than a very expensive car. But I like cars too \o/
- Pen & Paper RPGs. Yes, with the dice, like Dungeon & Dragons. I know, but hey, I just love it, it's so much fun with friends!
- Comics. All of them. Superheroes are sexy.
- Action figures and collector statues. More geek stuff... xD
- Old movies. Especially musicals like Singing in the Rain.
- Funny tee shirts about a movie, a series, a game... Something that you won't understand if you don't know where it's from. I just love them \o/
- Internet memes. Awwww yeaaaaaaah!
Alright I'll stop there, that's enough xD

Jinx, I love the way you described the French and English languages as people, that is just wonderful, lol. I always thought that English must be one of the most difficult languages to learn, as the words have so many different origins. At least with French, it has consistent roots in Latin, and seems more predictable. Then again, my knowledge of French is limited to several years of study in high school and college years ago, and practically zero application here in the U.S. Although it did come in handy for asking people in Paris if they spoke English, lol. You have a wide range of interests! Thanks for sharing them

Jinx! I also love MMORPGs. ;D I actually would have considered myself to be quite an avid gamer a few years ago. I can't believe I'm admitting that, haha. I don't play many games anymore, but my main game is Lord of the Rings Online (LotRO). I should update my list, can't believe I forgot to include Lord of the Rings! But anyway, that's beside the point. ETA: I also ADORE Jurassic Park, especially the first film. I miss those kind of special effects. I somehow found them more real and enjoyable.

The Football. And my footballing equivalent of Cillian (Leo Messi - I named one of my sadly lost twins after him) Won the World again last night Writing. Reading. Film. Discussion. Art. I like art. I like painting. I guess my own 'likes' are kind of one sided. I don't have a scientific mind at all.

Cait, you would love my husband's observatory, lol. He's really big into astronomy (I am too), and built one in the back yard. He takes some pretty cool pics of nebulas, galaxies, etc. He's self-taught, which means I get to hear a lot of cursing and swearing when stuff doesn't go right. But when it does go right, the images are really amazing. The cosmos is something else!! ;D And video games... I used to be a BIG gamer. I was completely addicted to a horse racing game for six years - we even had a forum like this one! But I have a fondness for the Grand Theft Auto games, lol... especially Vice City because of all the cool 80's music. LOL.
