All right, I haven't seen the movie, not read the script... and this may be far from Tom Buckley in that movie... but this is my Tom Buckley and I hope you can bear with me...
A few things to note; This is set before Red Lights and is meant to be a mystery/supernatural drama...
The female character has been in my head for quite a while now, actually for years to be honest but I could never find a proper setting for her.
Anyways... Here goes:
Prologue: "Eyes"
Professor Tom Buckly was getting his papers out of his bag, ready to teach a class; he had taken over for Mrs. Olsen who had just started her maternity leave… Tom thoroughly enjoyed teaching about this subject; the supernatural…
The papers made a loud noise against the table as he got ready to start his teaching and his eyes quickly scanned the array of students gathered; most looking to be analyzing their new professor.
He was just about to say something when one of the students caught his eye and he felt like taking a step back despite being far from her.
Her brown eyes were staring straight at him and it felt as if they pierced right through him; she looked nothing like the other students… most of all she looked like a hobo but you never knew with the strange trends clothing wise of the young people of today.
Tom got himself together and started his lecture trying to ignore the strange girl on first row whose eyes never left him for a second while she skillfully scribbled down his every word.
He had never seen a student do that, write without even looking at the paper and he found himself walking over to her desk to look at her writing pad and to his surprise her writing was flawless and right on the lines on the paper. He scratched the back of his neck and quickly continued his lecture before any of the other students would start to lose their patience.
He had been talking for about 10 more minutes when he heard a bang and a thud and a horrifying sight awaited him.
On the floor was now that strange girl, covering her ears as her face contorting in a silent scream; she was shaking and her eyes were clamped shut. Tom ran to her side and kneeled down trying to shake her shoulder; wanting to end her fit.
”What’s her name?” Tom asked worriedly to the students who still sat on their places… silence.
”I think her name is Jennifer” a girl finally answered while rolling her eyes ”She’s just trying to get attention though…” she continued before smacking her gum.
”Jennifer?” Tom asked her carefully and somehow her heavy shivering seemed to ease down but she continued to scream without a sound. ”Can you hear me?” he asked clasping her hand and he felt her squeeze it. Her fit lasted for a while and as soon as it was over she scrambled back in her seat as if nothing had happened.
”Class dismissed” Tom told the students flustered and Jennifer was the first to get on her feet. ”Jennifer I think you need to sit down and relax, I’ll get you some water all right?” he said looking directly into her very dark brown eyes. Her two front teeth dug into her bottom lip and students began leaving the classroom…
”Seriously Mr. Buckley she’s just attention seeking” the girl from before said before turning to leave as well. Tom heaved a sigh and sprinted off to get the water for Jennifer but when he returned she had gone and left a note on her table.
”Please don’t take the bus home” was all it said and he felt his brows furrowing.
