This is good news! Hemsworth is an actor who I am really starting to like and it is nice to see Cillian working with him. Also Ron Howard is a filmmaking legend!!! ;D

Wow that sounds really strange and really interesting. I like Chris too, though my dream would really be to see Tom Hiddleston and Cillian do a film together! It's good to know Cillian is giving us a few projects to look forward to.

Yet another new movie project!! YAY! I'm so happy that our man is busy again. The story I find actually very interesting and exciting. A whale fighting back its hunters... Yessum right so! I also like the cast very much!! Brendan Gleeson, Chris Hemsworth and OMG Ben Wishaw! I always enjoy seeing that guy on screen. Ah yes, Razz , Cillian and Hiddleston together in a movie... I would enjoy THAT too

Like the sound of this one. Great cast, legendary director, period film set at sea. Could be gripping and gut-wrenching; not everyone's cup of tea surely with the cannibalism, but I can deal. Looking forward to it. Once again I apologize for not being around (excuse me, pardon me, sorry, sorry... ). Might as well confess that another actor has stolen me away, very likely for-evah. Special circumstances. Will always check back here though when I can. Glad people are still keeping up on Mr. Murphy's career. Miss you all!

Cast is pretty good. I 'like' one actor, love another, and Cillian is in it too. Hemsworth seems to be Howard's golden boy at the minute. This and Rush, which looks brilliant (and has another of my favs, God bless that little German Spaniard!). I will look forward to this one. Lil Whishaw has a 'kiss of life' in the way that some actors have a 'kiss of death'. I basically love every character he plays and, after his recent BAFTA win (and seeing him in a play, ahhh), this is a nice little thing to pick up. He's starting another play in October/November. I wonder when this is due to start filming, in that case, because he's 'out' for at least a few months. It might be a long shoot. I think they've only just started building the set so it could be awhile.

Can anyone point me to one good movie Hemsworth has been in? I've seen Thor, Snow White and the Huntsman and The Cabin in the Woods, so I only know him as the guy who appears in sh*tty films. I'd like to watch something good he's in before this comes out so seeing him wouldn't only provoke negative memories. What would you recommend?

He's not in any particularly good films. He's a commercial actor more than anything else and an actor who is likely to pull in viewrs - but if you're looking for something that is MEANT to be good, Rush opens in the next couple of weeks. He's the 'headliner' but I'm not anticipating him to be the talking point. That will go to his brilliant co-star. But Rush is a character drama, which is something I haven't seen Hemsworth do before. Heart of the Sea will be the same, a character drama. I will reserve judgement on Hemsworth until I see him actually put in a dramatic performance.
Really, Hemsworth's the kind of presence that will always be brushing A-List because of his mere look and presence. He's a pretty boy. He's the quintessential 'jock' type. He's the guy who teenage girls will flock to see regardless of film or performance. But he's been cast in 2 Ron Howard films now, the first of which is premiering as we 'type' in London and is meant to be brilliant.
EDIT: The first reviews are in for Rush. His co-star steals the show (as expected, he's a character actor rather than a commercial actor) but Hemsworth's is being written up as putting in a pretty brilliant performance as well.

Ben Whishaw is going to be playing Herman Melville! I think he's a good actor, and it makes me happy to know that Cillian's doing a movie with another actor I admire (after "Broken" with Tim Roth, "Red Lights" with Robert de Niro and "Transcendence" with Johnny Depp.
Another thing that's got me looking forward to watching this film: Brendan Gleeson's in it, as well. I love his movies with Cillian, though they might not be sharing scenes in this movie, as Brendan's playing an older version of one of the ship's crew.

Whishaw's a stunning little actor. Was lucky enough to see him on stage with Judy Dench in April and have tickets to see his next play in November. He's absolutely heartbreaking when he wants to be. He's one of the most emotive actors I've ever seen. And his 'Q' looked like a nerdy little Jonathan Crane, bless. It's hard to believe he's only three or four years younger than Cillian. He looks about 20 in real life. But has a similar look to Cillian in that he's got dark hair and light eyes. Similar body shape as well.

^ Omg, I am going through Ron Howard's twitter feed and man does that guy tweet A LOT. And love Chris Hemsworth. There is 1 Cillian tweet and it's this Alisa - I'm not a huge fan of Hemsworth either but I've only seen Thor and Snow White and the Huntsman. Reserving my judgement until I see Rush (since it's gotten so much praise) So excited for this cast! Michelle Fairley, Brendan Gleeson ( SO MANY FILMS WITH CILLIAN), Ben Whishaw ..actually that's it. BUT GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME! Also this plot: WHALE. CANNIBALISM. I feel like it could be very difficult film to watch, a la 127 Hours but there's such material and potential for drama. Is anyone thinking of reading the book before they watch?

Posting...to myself.
Must be fate because I was unpacking boxes (recently moved) and I realized I have the book ~In the Heart of the Sea~ ! I think someone bought it for me in high school but I never read it because the cover looked dull and I totally judge books by their cover.
Anyway, I'm going to try to make time to read it this month and maybe post a spoiler tagged book review (not in this thread).
WHOO READING!
