I've been thinking alot lately about the possibility of Cillian as Ian Curtis (Of Joy Division) for the up and coming film' Control": members.aol.com/lwtua/these.htmThe kareoke scene in Disco Pigs is almost reminiscent of an Ian Curtis Performance!!!I think he would be rather good. Not sure about him perfecting the mancunian accent though

I actually I read that Jude Law was the front runner for the part of Ian Curtis, and I think Cillian would do a better job...but I'm biased. The look is definetely there...
IAN:
CILLIAN:
Cillian can carry a tune and he's got that whole dark and brooding thing going for him!
Again, I'm biased!

Absolutely ...I think it is big old rumour about Jude , he would be terrible ...he's too tall and (cough cough...old) and would ruin the film . Ian Curtis would probably shake in his grave ...god love him!

Off topic, but I'm also looking out for an anouncement on a film about Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy...that would be cool too!
And you know how much I love Jeff Buckley, and there's a documentary about him that I'll be seeing soon at our local film festival. I can't wait for that!

OMFG! Great minds think alike! The main reason I came here was to post this idea of Cillian Murphy playing in a bio-pic on Ian Curtis. I thought he was brilliant in 28 Days Later & I've been a big joy Division fan for some time.
I didn't know a bio-pic was already in the making. But Cillian would be much better suited for the part than Jude Law (he's a good actor, but this would be a mis-casting error I think).
I always thought it would be cool for Danny Boyle to direct it too (with Trainspotting on his resume).
Cillian would definitely pull off the sort of anger-simmering-just-under-the-surface sort of scariness that Ian Curtis carrried with him.
Cillian Murphy = Ian Curtis!!!
