On the way home from school today (I dorm) I picked up every Cillian Murphy movie I could find at Blockbuster, having written down his list from IMDb.com. There were four: Girl with a Pearl Earring, 28 Days Later..., Intermission, and Cold Mountain. They didn't have On the Edge, which I wanted to see most, but it's okay 'cause now I've got an excuse to order it off the internet. I've also still gotta see Batman.
I've watched two so far:
Girl with a Pearl Earring
I freaking loved this movie. Its only downfall was that it didn't have quite enough Cillian in it. Otherwise, it was incredible. I just loved the subtlety of their attraction and the basic realism of it all. It's like, she and Vermeer did absolutely nothing together, yet they did everything, and, realistically, she does not attempt to run off with him and ends up with Pieter (or so I assume). Beautiful.
28 Days Later...
I was afraid to watch this movie 'cause I hate scary movies, but it wasn't bad at all. I hate when things jump out at you, but this one was more like, "Okay, guys. They're coming. Let's run/shoot them." It was really good, but Cillian's the kind of guy that really shouldn't ever have facial hair, so I'm glad he eventually got to shave. Ooh! And the only other movie in which I've seen full-frontal male nudity in my life is Schindler's List, and those were all old guys with saggy bits. And I saw butt twice! Anyway, I thought the whole movie was really well done, and I liked that the little girl was stoned through the entire ending. I loved when Jim got all animal at the end...mmm.... And, of course, he's wonderful throughout.
Favorite quote: "Repent! The end is extremely f*cking nigh!"
