I remember him saying that, although I'll have to rewatch that part to refresh my memory. I have to admit, when I first watched this, and first heard his English accent, I giggled like a crazy fangirl.

The rest of the movie ... I couldn't really get warm with it. Don't know why, 'cause it's a good movie with great performances. But I just didn't got the vibe. Except from Cillians part there's nothing in the movie that I was interested in... That's pretty much how I felt about this movie, Zombie. Cillian, as always, delivered an intensely sincere performance, but beyond him, the movie didn't do anything for me. In fact, I found myself annoyed with the other characters and their self-indulgent bed-hopping. Which was a big part of why I felt more for Killick in the film. But he really wasn't in the movie that much, so... (shrug). At least I got some fan art material out of it, though.

Yeah... have to admit , though overall I liked the movie well enough, that I thought Cillian's character was the only one who wasn't annoying and genuinely likable. (even though imo Keira Knightley's character does improve alot by the end and considering who she was married to did feel some pity for Sienna Miller's). I really felt for William Killick too considering what it was he had to put up with during the course of the story!

I was very excited about this film since I first heard about it. I was writing my degree dissertation in 2006 and it was about Dylan himself, so guess how excited I was to hear they were filming this. I thought it was a biopic and Cillian wasplaying Thomas. Uh, not. Then the reviews came out and they ripped it apart, so it went away from my radar and I only saw it recently. Actually, I loved it. Yes, Dylan can be very annoying. Extremely annoying, he was a brilliant writer, but a childlike man....they simply portrayed his antics on screen....he was like that, sometimes even much worse. I remember I read a lot about him and I was always telling my mom "you would never guess what that Dlan Thomas did once........". I loved the movie and I loved the strange point of view...it's not really about Dylan, though Dylan thinks he's the centre of the universe. Sylan & Caitlin should be annoying, obnoxious. Their fighting was even downplayed, I think. I like Keira, and I understood how hew character was feeling, but it's true that the one you empathise with is Killick....for a very good reason, even apart from Cillian. He is the only character you can identify with...the other three are living in a personal obsession, in Dylan's world. Killick is the outsider, the poor guy whose only blame is to fall in love. His reaction to the odd menage a quatre is the reaction most people would have....add him being shell shocked and you really cannot blame him. I loved the contrast between the horrors in the story (external horror, the war, internal horror, betrayal and selfishness) and Cillian's sheer beauty and innocence. Casting him was a bout of genius: he looks so young, unaware of deception and full of hope, the very image of what's good in this world, and he's thrown in a pit of misery and war. Of course people will empathise with him.

So great, Leyla, to have the voice of someone here who loved Edge Of Love! I haven't heard much positive voices yet... I have to admit, I wasn't touched by the movie either, honestly spoken. Apart from Cillian's character of course, who you described so wonderfully as the character the audience emphatises with. Never looked at it from that angle; that he represents the innocence, destroyed by war. Of course you as someone who is actually familiar with Dylan and his work and life had a totally different touch with the movie. Interesting! Thanks for telling us your opinion about the movie.

I love your review Leyla I enjoyed the cinematography of the film and yes, I thought Cillian stole the story, his role was brilliant.
