Cool! Haven't seen those pics yet. Is he wearing army fatigues? I want to see this but they don't have a release date for it in the U.S. Still love the pictures though! ;D

**SPOILERS FOR THE EDGE OF LOVE**I just watched this, and it was really good (to me). I was excited to see it initially, but it died off when I read some not so good reviews from critics. I wasn't really expecting it to be good when I got down to finally watching it. I was really glad that it wasn't all that bad. It's not going to win Oscars, that's for sure, but I wouldn't call it "straight-to-DVD" material. The cinematograpy and costumes were absolutely beautiful. All of the performances were pretty good, but, I'm not saying this because I'm a biased Cillian fan, but I thought Cillian's performance was absolutely fantastic! Compared to the other actors, I thought his performance was the best. He's such a talented actor. He played Captain Killick, troubled and haunted by warfare sooo well. His strong and powerful performance was one of the reasons why I especially loved the second act of the movie (in the Welsh countryside and onward). The other three characters, Dylan, Caitlin, and Vera, were pretty despicable. I just couldn't really sympathize with them. Especially Dylan and Caitlin. My heart softened a bit for Vera at the end though, I have to admit. Keira was pretty good in her role as Vera, and yet again she shows that period movies are what she does best. So in my opinion, I think this movie's a must-see for Cillian fans. He gives a really strong, heart-breaking performance and brings so much depth to it. Might I also add that he also looks quite devastatingly gorgeous in this?! I can't get over how good he looks sometimes. If you were disappointed with WTD, hopefully you won't be with The Edge of Love!

I've seen it and it was visually beautiful and each characters were so layered. Some characters you first hate and then grow to love. Other characters you adore first and then grow to hate.

I hope you'll like it, Kaatopp. I might re-watch it again when it comes out on DVD. I just watched Atonement again recently (still sooo good even on second viewing by the way!!), and just to let you know that this was not like " Atonement, only better" as advertised in the trailer. They are two completely different stories, but if I had to compare the two, Atonement was definitely the better movie -- better made and better story. I liked it enough though.

Rukia, When I saw the preview for this movie I was totally offended that it claimed to be Atonement but better, not that I wouldn't want such a thing for Cillian and his career but I think you understand my obsession with Mr. McAvoy. I didn't believe it was better, or even similar but I have still been excited to see it. I am sure it will be great in it's own way and it has been too long since I have seen Cillian in something new. Plus I love Keira so being able to see her with my two favorite men/actors is quite exciting. Can't wait to see Cill and Keira act along side each other ...... MAN she is lucky!!

I realise this thread is now a bit old, so if I'm bumping it at a time I shouldn't apologies in advance. I just wasn't sure it was really worth making a new thread, seeing as this one already existed.
But on topic, I ended up ordering this on dvd off of Amazon today as this is one of the films starring Cillian that I've not seen yet that I really want to. I saw a few clips on you tube and was pretty intrigued, as well as from the info I've read so far about it! I'm all the more keen because of Keira Knightley also being in it - as think she's also very talented. I thought at the same time I'd also order a copy of Red Eye as though I've seen it before - it was only by chance when it happened to be on TV and though since I kept meaning to get hold of it, I never quite got round to it before. Very much looking forward to watching both these when they arrive! ;D

Thought I'd add another reply in here just to mention that now i have watched this movie. I have to admit that for what must have been roughly around the first 20 minutes or so I found it a little hard to warm to the story and characters - with William being the one exception. And not just because of the fact that Cillian played him but because of feeling alot of empathy for the character from pretty much the start - while feeling as if I didn't really care for the others too much. However as the movie events continued to unfold, the story soon started to grow on me and as well as thinking that Cillian (as in everything else I've so far watched him in) gave a fantastic performance - also very much enjoyed how Keira Knightley and Sienna Millers's characters developed throughout the movie plot and how their performances reflected this. Definitely felt that it was well worth the watch after it had finished, and even though I wouldn't go as far as to say that this is a film that happens to be amongst my top favourites I give it a 7 out of 10!

I know I am a little behind on this movie, but I have to say I cannot stop watching it! And the sole reason is because of Keira and Cillian, they did an amazing job and it is really nice to see two of my favorite actors on screen. That was what appealed to me about the movie when I first saw the trailer to it. And I very much agree with you emma286, I thought it was a little slow in the beginning but what kept me going was William, I just really fell in love with him (and not just because cillian played him) something about his character drew me to him. I really loved the love story between Vera and William. I didn't care for the other two and I have to say I found myself frustrated with Dylan, that I just really wanted William to beat him to a pulp. ahahaha sorry for sounding harsh but the character of Dylan irritated the heck out of me.

Love it, Love it, Love it! The Edge of Love isn't strictly a chick-flick, since it contains alot of masculine emotion of war and lost love, financial woes and deceit. Guys still tend to hate it (at least all the ones I have shown it to), but you can at least talk them into watching it.
This was the very first Cillian DVD that I actually bought (while the virus was incubating, I suppose). I love the friendship between Vera and Caitlin, the tolerance between Dylan and William. The "WTF" look on William's face when Dylan and Vera kiss, the slight smile at only the left corner of William's mouth when Vera looks at him after her song. I didn't realize what a good actor Matthew Rhys was until I saw him in the bonus interviews on the disc. He seems to be NOTHING like Dylan Thomas in real life. Cillian did not, however heartbreaking, interview for the bonus features but all the others did. There are also bloopers on bonus features. I was so excited, planned a special viewing, got popcorn, blanket, dimmed lights....Cillian yawns. That's perhaps how perfect he is.

*This post may contain spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen this film!* I just watched this last night for the first time. Over-all I liked it, but I was very annoyed by Dylan's character, in fact he's probably the only character I didn't feel sympathy for. William's shell-shock behaviour was very necessary in the film, but it just pained me to see how uninterested he was in his wife and child. The scene inside Dylan and Caitlin's home after William had just fired shots through the window from outside just tore me apart, especially when William looks at Vera and notices her bruise and asks in a cracked voice, "Did I do that?" Ugh, my heart was breaking lol! Cillian's acting was outstanding, as usual, so in spite of not absolutely loving the film, his performance made it worth it. I don't really care for Keira Knightley, but I didn't mind her too much in this film, and I developed quite an emotional connection for Vera and Caitlin's friendship. I also didn't mind the pairing of Keira and Cillian, I thought they both did great, although I would have liked it if their relationship had been built up a little more. Their love was very tender and romantic...of course I was swooning over Cillian the whole time. Really enjoyed him in that uniform, too. The film gets an 8/10 from me!

Ohhh.. that thread is quite old. But I watched the movie yesterday for the second time and there's one thing I long to tell about (call me crazy if you like LOL). Honestly, the most erotic scene in the movie: When William whispers "There's a raindrop running down your cheek..." The way Cillian pronounces cheek... especially the k.... that is SO sensual and turns me on more than every other love scene in the movie. Oh I really got the chills when I heard this... OMG... Cillians voice... The rest of the movie ... I couldn't really get warm with it. Don't know why, 'cause it's a good movie with great performances. But I just didn't got the vibe. Except from Cillians part there's nothing in the movie that I was interested in...
