Well consider when the infection in the hospital might have occurred, of course, he could have been getting prepped for surgery at the time, a follow up, or even a check up on the effects of his head trauma intervention (which is why half his head was shaved). Bam! Crazy monkey rage infects and he was never woken up from the drugs he was put on!
Perhaps his unconsciousness deterred the infected from eating him! Or not... just a thought.

And his door was locked, wasn't it in the beginning? Might have helped deter some of the infected from getting in ... or his comatose state might have made them think he was dead? Either way, you feel sorry for Jim for having to wake up like that in a world so devastated.

Hello all - new person here - 1st post & all. Went to see BB last week & was introduced to CM & omg - where have I been? He came on the screen & all coherent thought processes pretty much came to a screeching halt. So what could I do but go see the movie again? Anyway - I then rented the VHS of 28 days. And hs - there he was - & I mean there he was! . Oh yeah - did the rewind & pause quite a few times there. Great butt! I, also, wouldn't mind being on the, ahem, business end of things. But one very bizarre thought did come to my mind if I may be so bold - when he was laying there in all his glory - his "business" was laying off to the left - do you think it was "posed" that way or they just let it lay where it fell? Like I said, bizarre thoughts. Loved all your comments here. I like the "new birth" theory. Also, maybe he kicked the top sheet off while asleep. He was in a coma, not paralyzed after all. Oh - one more thot - in the woods - how did his shirt come off then his hands were tied together? Hmmm - maybe his clothes really do just fly off.

Hm, I think it just was um just "hanging" that way so to speak. But he is a beautiful man in all his glory ... gotta kiss the director for realizing that ... hence the "shirt flying off" I guess. Really no reason for losing the shirt other than for him to look gorgeous wet in the rain and covered in blood later on. Same could be said about showing him in the shower scene. Ahhh, shower scene.
