Cillian did sound a little as if he had a cold last night, but his performance was brilliant.
I enjoyed the show very much. Particularly the "The Brilliant Divorce" scene and the sound they made when they "pulled their swords" in the play with the hay fence. Hilarious!

So from that article it sounds like it was several short plays together? What was Cillian's portion about? How close were you? Wish I could have seen it! I hope he wasn't sick that would be horrible to have to act on stage while you are sick!

Thanks for the good luck wishings before i went guys. I was at a comedy gig on Friday night and another gig last night as well so this is the first time i've been online in a few days. Anyway the play consised of extracts from 15 of the most popular plays that the Druid Theatre company has put on since it started back in 1975. Cillian was in 3 of the extracts- At the Black Pig's D**e(which was a comedy and Cillian was hilarious in it! Loved his expressions), The Lonesome West(In which he played a priest writing a letter to two brothers. It was basically a monologue, as he stood in front of the crowd reading the letter aloud) and The Playboy of the Western World(in which he has apparently murdered his father and is now running away. He is also in love with a girl whose father isn't too happy about it!). He did sound a bit hoarse, especially in The Lonesome West but it didn't take away from his performance at all. It was such an amazing thing to be able to watch him live on stage- his intensity and love of acting really came across strongly. I really hope he does go back and do more Theatre work, it'd be great to see him in a full length production. I wish they'd put on Disco Pigs again. The night overall was just great craic and very funny at times. A lot of the extracts were comedies which was nice- we had a lot of laughs in between the more serious pieces. All the actors were very impressive. I loved the actor in The Walworth Farce who played the guy who moved like a robot. I don't know what his name is though- i'll have to find out. He was class. So afterwards i went to the bathroom, then my brother and i were just standing around looking at the booklets and things and i noticed there was a sign for a Bar upstairs, so we said we'd go and have a drink before we left. As we walked up the stairs i looked up, and there, at the top pf the stairs, leaning on the bannister and talking on his mobile phone was Mr. Cillian Murphy himself- looking right down at us walking up. I was in shock for a few seconds but i just walked casually past, well i hope it was casually. We ordered a drink and as we were drinking them, Cillian walked past- actually brushed right past us, about 4 times. I didn't talk to him though, because i knew i'd just end up saying something that sounded ridiculously stupid and spend the next week analysing it, going over it in my head and wishing i hadn't bothered saying anything at all! So instead i just enjoyed the time in the Bar knowing he was there too. I'm sure he would've been fine if i did approach him but i think it's much cooler that he could just be there, mingle with everyone(other actors and just audience members) and have a drink and not be hasseled. This way i can just remember that i shared the same Bar as him and had to move out of his way to let him past as he squeezed through the crowd just like everyone else in the packed little Bar. He seemed quite at ease although he left after about half an hour i think. All the other actors were there too but maybe he doesn't know them as well and felt kind of out of place, as i'm sure most people were looking twice at him all the time. As he walked past us one time he kind of did this little pursed lip smile and looked down at the floor as if he felt kind of uncomfortable. I know when we first saw him, on his mobile, he was asking whoever he was talking to, where they were and whether they were coming up for a drink. Maybe they didn't show up or wanted to go somewhere else a little quieter, so he left with them. Anyway i hope he had great night and i'm just glad i got to see him perform on stage and will have extremely fond memories of the whole night. It was a brilliant weekend overall- beautiful weather and 3 amazing gigs- one comedy(Simon Amstell is a genius ), one play and one amazing band called Villagers. Oh and yes he looked extremely handsome- that bone structure up close is stunning.

thanks for that razzthekid. Nice review. I would have done the same as you, ie not approached CM. Nice that you go to see him though, acting as well as more candid. (I have to ask - was he shorter than you thought?!!)

I'm so glad you all had such a great time!!!
Thanks for your detailed report razz!!! You lucky lucky girl!!! Not only did you see him on stage (which alone is awesome) but also see him afterwards in the bar!!
I really hope he'll do some theatre work in the near future (preferably in London) so I'll have the chance to see him on stage!
Not that I'm surprise to read that or anything but it's good to know anyway... ;D

Thanks for the pictures, Mitzi! ;D They're great! Thanks for sharing your experience, Kim! I'm glad you enjoyed the plays, and I'm glad to hear that Cillian was so awesome in his roles! I wish I could've been there... it would be so amazing to see Cillian live onstage. That's so awesome that you and your brother were mingling in the same bar as Cillian afterwards! It's so great that you got to see him in person. I totally respect you for not approaching him... I wouldn't know what to say to him either! LOL. That's so great though. Good to know that his beauty is for real. I question it myself sometimes because he's so out of this world gorgeous. LOL. Yeah, that was cheesy, sorry. Thanks again for your story! I really enjoyed it! ;D

(I have to ask - was he shorter than you thought?!!) He was shorter than the IMDB says he is( but that's no surprise seen as they got his sons name wrong : as far as i could see. I was wearing flat boots and i'm about 5'7 and he was no taller than me, i think. If he was, it was only by a fraction. And yeah, Rukia, it's definitely for real.

I'm actually not that surprised that he's shorter in real life, Kim. I've always kinda suspected that he wasn't 5'9" by just comparing him to his co-stars. I've always thought he was at least 5'7" and at most 5'8". It's okay though. We love him anyway!!!

Wow, Razz- I am SO envious of you!! Not surprised to hear that he's that stunning in real life- that's what everyone who has seen him in person says. I have a friend who lives in London who once saw him at the doctor's office and said he was gorgeous as well - and she's not even a huge fan like we all are. LOL. Can't blame you for not approaching him; I wouldn't have, either. In a situation like that, there's not much you can say to him that he hasn't heard before, unfortunately. But you will always be able to remember being that close to him, which is more than most people can say! Thank you SO much for posting your account of the night!! ;D

I kept trying to think of something that i could say to him that wouldn't just sound cheesey and weird but i couldn't! And anyway i was thinking- what will either of us gain from a conversation that barely lasts two sentences? and in which we probably both feel uncomfortable and embarassed. I'm glad i didn't say anything. And you're welcome.

I won't really write a review, but as you all seem to be very excited here's a few tidbits:
He and one of the stage directors(?) were walking around the block, smoking and talking for about an hour around lunch time. i dont know if anyone cares but he wore a green plaided button shirt, jeans and the usual leather boots and shades (it was a very bright day). and he was out smoking and talking behind the theatre before the show, in the break and right after the show as well.
