Oh, ashleyrose, do NOT feel left out!! This thread is here to guide you on your path toward James ecstasy .... If you really are interested in seeing his films, I recommened ... The Last King of Scotland - because it's probably James' acting at its finest and it's a brilliant film. Atonement - OBVIOUSLY!! He is gorgeous in this film, and of course the film is astoundingly fantastic. Starter for 10 - funny, cute, good film, James will make you melt. Becoming Jane - really sweet movie and there is something about James in it, wow .... he's exceptional. That should get you started haha ... if you have access to rental or downloading, you should check out the BBC series Shameless, he was in seasons 1 and 2 and its amazing and hilarious, even without James .... but you'll officially fall in love. If you want an even quicker glimpse, type his name into youtube and watch any of the interviews that pop up, he is ALWAYS charming and funny and sweet. It's amazing. So do not feel left out, there is plenty of time for you to catch up and fall in love, and we here will support you on your journey!

Wow! Never really noticed James McAvoy before. Now I feel kinda behind because the only movie I've seen him in is The Chronicles of Narnia. I really liked Mister Tumnus (is that how you say it?) though. But yeah, it seems that everyone's in love with him now (and why shouldn't they be? he's so good looking) and I feel left out because I really have no idea who he is. Guess I'll have to try to see some of his movies. Maybe he'll do one with Cillian some day? ;D Ashleyrose, don't feel left out. Kaatopp (aka James McAvoy's #1 fan) is ready to welcome you to the fandom with open arms! Heh. Does anybody want to join the Ed Norton fandom? Looks around ...silence... Well, can't say I didn't try. Well discoharvest, I noticed his lady, Anne Marie Duff, looked really familiar. I realized she actually was Georgina in "The Way We Live Now" with Cillian, I don't think she had any interacting parts with him though, in two different stories in the series. She also was in an Irish play with him ... "Playboy of the Western World" maybe, not positive though .... so I began to take notice of her! I never knew she was in The Way We Live Now… I don’t even remember who Georgina is. Was she an important character? God, I have such a bad memory… or I was just probably mesmerized by Cillian in period clothing! HOT. That means she & James will definitely work well together in Perrier’s Bounty! I was wondering about that since it always seems like real life husband and wife actors don’t work well opposite each other in movies. I’m excited that Penelope’s coming out soon! It’s got that touch of whimsy that I’ll like. And of course, there’s James. Gosh, The Other Boleyn Girl with Eric Bana is gonna come out that same weekend. Penelope or The Other Boleyn Girl? James or Eric? … Both of course! Yeah, that’s how I’ll probably look like next to James, too. Yup, vertically challenged, that’s me. **SPOILERS FOR BECOMING JANE** I just finished watching Becoming Jane. First of all, James looked stunning even with weird hair and period clothing. The movie obviously wasn't perfect, we are not talking Atonement love-story perfection, but still good. I really loved the entire film actually until the ending. The ending was sad and I just didn't like it, but apparently it was true to Jane Austin's life, so I suppose its acceptable. Over all though the film was good, and James is so damned sexy in it. I just finished watching Becoming Jane. I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. The first half of the movie felt like a Pride & Prejudice redux. Her mom was just like Mrs. Bennett, Maggie Smith was just like Lady Catherine, there was that whole ballroom dancing scene, the hate at first sight between Jane and Tom was like Lizzy and Mr. Darcy, etc, etc. Lovely cinematography and gorgeous costumes though. Anyway, the only thing I liked about the first part was James. He was absolutely hilarious – he and his playboy antics! Anyway, loved the second half though because it trailed away from that Pride & Prejudice redux, and a lot of things turned up that I didn’t expect. I did not expect Tom to turn down Jane at the beginning. I was like, “How could you?!” I was also mad at Mr. Wisley (who I kinda liked despite his dorky, awkward self) for writing that letter to the judge. Things were going pretty badly for Jane with Tom’s engagement and everything. And then Tom wanted to elope with Jane, and I got all happy again. I was like, “Yes, Jane’s gonna find her happiness.” Then, we find out about Tom having to support his siblings and everything… that totally crushed me. James was awesome during this part though. Anyway, I was glad when we find out that Mr. Wisley didn’t write the letter, but that 28 Days Later kitchen boy did. I was sad about the ending because Jane never got married, but then I realized that duh, she never did in real life. That’s probably why her novels have happy endings... aw, so sad though! And the whole Pride & Prejudice redux in the beginning makes sense now; Jane was probably writing from her own experience in life. Overall, I liked the ending and loved the movie. A sad ending but a good one. I tend to like depressing endings for some reason.

Yay bitterpigs!! I am so glad you are back and loving James McAvoy! Keep contributing to the wonderful thread you created! We need constant James praise going on over here! I have not seen Early Doors, what is it about/is it good? I am currently working on watching James in Shameless and State of Play, both of which are amazing, even the parts without James! And did anyone see the Oscars last night? James announced an award with some other guy (ha, dont know who) and he was gorgeous and funny of course! Here is a link to James presenting!! scottishactors.blogspot.com/2008/02/james-mcavoy-presenting-at-oscars.htmlSadly Atonement did not win the Oscar for best picture but they did take away the Oscar for best original score. I am glad they won something! Oscars photos!! .... I just think Anne Marie Duff is one of the most beautiful woman ever! Hopefully this link works: it is to a video of James McAvoy talking about the actors that inspired him. I am not sure if it was played during the Oscars as I had to stop watching it halfway through ... but here it is, in case you missed it ... nytimesshorts.feedroom.com/?fr_story=c956111b218590b8f76e9ed8a65ef43942851d97&rf=sitemapHope you all enjoyed!

I am glad they won something! Thanks for that link, kaatopp! I've been looking for it because I freaking missed the first half of the Oscars, so I missed James McAvoy presenting, of course! I was a bit pissed. He looks cute doing that little jig in the beginning. I'm also glad Atonement won for Best Score! That would've been a tragedy if it didn't - the music was absolutely amazing for that film. I have not seen Early Doors, what is it about/is it good? I am currently working on watching James in Shameless and State of Play, both of which are amazing, even the parts without James! So State of Play is good? I'm a bit curious about it because they're currently making an American movie version of it. I'm a fan of Rachel McAdams, and she's part of the cast. That's how I even heard about it. Ed Norton & Brad Pitt were previously attached to it, but unfortunately had to drop out. Anyway, I just thought it would be good to watch the original British series just to compare with the movie version when it comes out.

Yes Rukia, State of Play is wonderful! It is a TV series though so that is interesting that they are making it into a film. It's also strange though, I don't really see a reason to when you already have a recent production of it from the 2000s and John Simm and Kelly MacDonald are brilliant in it, along with McAvoy of course. I am really disgusted because I looked up the film on imdb and Russel Crowe is set to play John Simm's character which is just such a horrible choice and will be, in my opinion, quite a disgrace to the character and Simm's talent. Ben Affleck is in the film which is also an atrocity as I find him to be complete crap and the wonderful Jason Bateman is casted but as a very pathetic and sort of bad-guy character and it looks as if no one is set to play Jame's character ... let alone his father's character who is a crucial part of the mini series. They should just re-release the BBC mini series on television in multi-night segments or something and be done with it! I hate remakes for American audiences when the BBC has already done it properly and done it first! Anyway, sorry for the rant ... Trying to finish State of Play up though, I am not sure how many seasons there were, I think I have two or so more episodes of the first season left to watch. I did not download any other seasons because James is not in them, but I love John Simm so much that I will probably have to download the other seasons ... (at this point I am not actually sure if there are more seasons, getting all these BBC programs that I am watching mixed up). In fact just finished watching the series finale of Life on Mars that John Simm starred in, also wonderful and something you should check out if you have the time. He's a brilliant actor in case you are not familiar with him. and here is the wonderfully attractive, and very talented Mr. Simm Sorry to sort of attack the news you have given us Rukia! I was initially excited and then very disappointed because of the actors set to star in it. I am very hard to please when it comes to remakes. All I can say though, is definitely check out the BBC series first, it is worth it, it is fantastic! And also ... I did some searching for photos of James in State of Play and Early Doors. Unfortunately there are only small photos of him in State of Play and a few in Early Doors, but I thought we could enjoy them anyway .... State of Play, as Dan Foster: Dont you just love those parted lips? And in Early Doors: You can see James on the far left, leaning on some chaps shoulder And a very young and adorable James!

Don't worry about it, kaatopp. I totally don't take any offense for what you had to say. I was expecting it really. You're not the only one who is passionate about the original State of Play series. There's a lot of people who are die hard fans of the series, and they're a bit peeved, to say the least, about it being turned into an American film version. From what I heard, the series is really, really good. I'm sure the original cast is top notch - I love Kelly Macdonald - she's an incredible actress and really deserves some more exposure. Eh, I'm not too thrilled about Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck either. Russell's too overrated, and Ben's kinda goony to me. (Sorry if there's any fans of theirs out there!) I prefer Casey to Ben any day. I personally liked the original casting better - Ed Norton would've been freaking awesome that's for sure. And that's just not because I'm a die hard fan of Ed either. Brad Pitt - bleh, overrated too in my opinion - but at least he'll look hot on-screen unlike Russell. The film version probably won't live up the original series, but I think people should give it a try. It's directed by Kevin Macdonald who also directed The Last King of Scotland - that was good, right? It won't be out until probably next year. We'll see.

I WISH Ed Norton were going to be in it, he would have done brilliant justice to John Simm's character, or at least been brilliant as any character. I agree, even Brad Pitt would be better than Crowe or Affleck, and amen to Casey, he is quality!
The Last King of Scotland was magnificent, you must see that too!! (I imagine I have recommended a list of over 15 things that you just "must see", starring James, haha) Hopefully then Kevin MacDonald will do a good job as he certainly did with LKOS!

Rukia, I just finished watching State of Play and it was AMAZING. I now officially know there are only six episodes. It was so so so so so sooooo good. The finale was spectacular and a total twist, you HAVE to see it. The remake will never do it justice! I dont know how they are going to take 6 hours of great television and make it a film of 2 or less hours! But anyway, check it out! And ... hot James McAvoy picture of the day!!

Glad to know that State of Play is good. I don't think there's any way the film can follow the series exactly. I think they're cutting out a lot of things and adding some new things. Anyway, I'll be sure to check it out. Thanks.

PENELOPE IS IN THEATERS TODAY!!!!! I love his hair and facial hair like this SO much ... sigh! I haven't checked any showtimes, but hopefully Penelope is showing somewhere around me tonight, I'll be going, most likely alone, no friends who would be interested and who also claim to be too poor all the time anyway, hah. I don't really mind, I just want to see James! I have seen trailers for the film on the telly too and the reviews they've put with it are good so I am really hopeful!! Anyone else going to see it? Happy James Day!!

Kaatopp - so Penelope - yay or nay? Good or no? And try to be unbiased as possible! Just kidding. I definitely want to see it, but I probably won't have time this weekend. Let me know what you think of it though.

Rukia! I didn't get to see it! I wasn't thrilled with the theaters it was showing at, harder to get yourself motivated to go see it at a theater that is somewhat annoying to get to when you are going alone! It is possible I will see it tonight or Sunday night but I am just not sure. I am working on huge research papers so it really depends! I want to see it so bad though! When I do see it, I promise to be unbiased though. I admit, the movie looks a little cheesy and I am not a huge fan of Christina Ricci, and in fact, I would probably never go see it if James weren't in it! But at the same time it looks pretty cute and funny, so maybe it will end up being a nice love story and send a good message to young woman about body image, haha Anyway, I will definitely let you know as soon as I go! Such a good, gooood good lookin man!
