Cillian's Height - SOLVED.

Sorry to bring up this topic again, but I've always wondered about how tall Cillian really is. It always bugs me for some reason. His height is listed as 5'9", but somehow, that doesn't ring true for some reason. He looks really small in some pictures. I agree with whoever said that he's around 5'6"-5'7". In WTD, he's taller than Lucy Liu obviously, but he's not like crazy tall. She's 5'3", and standing next to Cillian on-screen, I think he's probably only 3-4 inches taller than her. Same goes with Red Eye. Rachel's 5'5", and Cillian's not that much taller than her in the movie. And in The Edge of Love, Cillian and Keira are about the same height, and she's 5'7". So I say at the most, he's 5'7". Which is fine because being only 5'1" on a bad day and 5'2" on a good day, I view anybody that's taller than me as tall.

I'm willing to say that I think Cillian is every inch of his 5'9", because Rachel McAdams is 5'5", but was wearing at least a one inch heel shoe (possibly a little more than that) in Red Eye... yet Jackson is an inch or two taller than she is. So to me it adds up just right. Lisa at 5'5" + an inch or two of shoe = Jackson 5'9". If he was only 5'7", they'd have been eye to eye in every scene where they are standing, and clearly they are not.

I think when people meet a celebrity in person, they always appear smaller than we think they will be, merely because of that "larger than life" factor that comes from seeing them so large onscreen.

Thanks for your input, Pisces. I'd forgotten to add in the "high heel factor." Yes, Rachel was indeed wearing heels in Red Eye. Keira was also wearing heels in The Edge of Love, so it makes sense how they would be the same height in the movie (5'7" + 2 inch heels = 5'9".) I think the only thing that's throwing me off is WTD. In WTD, Lucy isn't that much shorter than Cillian, but she's not wearing heels; she's wearing sneakers. She's supposed to be 5'3". You can see for yourself in the WTD pictures over at CillianSite. Yeah, I'm confuzzled.

Hmmm, interesting topic. I have friends in the film industry, and they say that some actors they meet end up being shorter than they what they appeared on screen.

My experience, I met Daniel Radcliffe a couple of times. I knew he was short, but when I first met him, it was "whoah". I didn't expect him to be THAT short. Granted, I'm 5'10, so many guys are short to me. Regardless, Dan was every bit charming, intelligent and just adorable.

Cillian, I think ranges in the 5'7-5'9 area.

I should point out too that many UK men really aren't that tall. Cillian's height is probably the average, I'd say. But this is also coming from the girl that towered (still does) over every bloke in town.

Honestly, whatever his height, it doesn't matter. The man is unbelievably gorgeous, a brilliant talent, and has a voice that makes you melt.

Plus, I've always fancied the vertically challenged men. Don't know why exactly. If you add in dark hair and blue eyes? I'm a goner. Skinny, pasty arse and all.

LOL- I'm on the tall side too, so don't feel badly.. though I might not be as tall as you. I'm 5' 7" so I really hope Cillian is at least 5' 8"... though I do think he probably is. I know he's not the biggest guy out there, but he's bigger than me and that's QUITE good enough when he looks that gorgeous. I've always been about the face first. And to me, there are many things about Cillian that make him seem much larger than he is- his voice being one... he certainly has the voice of an Alpha Male, and he has that magentic presence that seizes one's attention and won't let go. That's more compelling to me than a big pile of beef. Cillian is the thinking woman's sex symbol.

I agree. Cillian's got a great, sexy, deep voice. It makes up for his small build. Eh, I shouldn't be so worked up about whether he's 5'7" or 5'9" -- I'm extremely vertically challenged, so either way, he's extremely taller than me.
