I think one of the things that impresses me most about Cillian is how perfectly he dons an accent. In both Batman Begins and Red Eye, his American accent is flawless. He also did an excellent English accent in Girl With A Pearl Earring. Does anybody know if he trains with voice coaches or is this just a natural gift?

I speak in Irish, English, and American English all the time... it's pretty fun. I guess it's because I'm overloaded with Irish but, I really don't find Irish that hard to pronounciate. And well, English just comes naturally. Haha. But, it does take a lot of work to perfect an accent and he does do it flawlessly. Plus, as I mentioned in another thread, he's even changed his degrees of Irish in films. 'Disco Pigs' has a stronger accented dialogue. Whereas, 'Watchmen' has a lighter tone with the same Irish 'r's' and whatnot. He's talented. What else is there to say? lol.

yeah, i know! i always thought that his accent in disco pigs was heavier, but i want sure... and now i know... yeah, thats a really good skill to be able to manipulate you accent... or change it completely.
i thought it was funny though, in batman his mouth kind of moves in the same way as it does with an accent, but he doesnt sound irish at all...

it obviously belongs to the character (pig) to speak with an heavier cork accent. a less educated, more childish young man than cillian is playing the watchmen. stylistic choice.

Yeah, he's good. But, there are some times you can hear his Irish-ness slip out. Like in Red Eye, he said "Why's that?" and when he said "that" you could hear some traces of it.

I remember seeing Batman Begins, On the Edge, and 28 Days Later with a few friends. Because he did so well with all the accents he donned in those movies, some of us we're questioning his real origin.

Yeah, I think that if I had only seen Batman Begins and Red Eye and if I knew nothing about him, I would never guess that he's Irish.

Then if Breakfast on Pluto he makes his voice really girly without the heavy tone to it. I luv that it always sounds different. Low in 28 days and in the middle for red eye. It's just different all the time

Yeah and the line "what'll you have" sounded slipped into Irish. But in that film, the accent was just so american tho, then on the interview footage its like well, Irish lol. Although i must say the BOP accent is somewhat questionable lol but he does say mummy in an adorable way lol.
