Hev, you've really inspired me to pick up the pencil and start drawing again!! I used to draw every single day, and basically devote my life to art, but lately I've been so busy I've kind of forgotten about it I'm so rusty though, lol... I'll have to work on a lot of things to get back into the flow of things. Thanks for the beautiful inspiration Hev!! You get a Cilli bar!! hehe

bo bartlett?... vaugely... realist? oil paintings? by any chance? that too bad that the exhibit was closed... the musee rodin in paris is probably my favorite... i spent so much time there (when i was in paris i mean ;D)... actually, museums were my whole trip... im dying to go to italy... haha, rediculous artists are even better ;D do you do mostly realism? Yes. Bo Bartlett does realist paintings He critiqued my work once. Later in the evening during dinner he told me he liked the composition of my initial sketch more so than the large painting that grew from it....he was SOOOO right (he liked the hands I painted though). I would love to travel abroad to all of the amazing museums. So far I've only made it to the Tate Britain. Go to Italy for sure...you must you must you must! I wouldn't say I'm realist...I would say I'm just a beginner. Hev, you've really inspired me to pick up the pencil and start drawing again!! That's what life's all about, right? Making some sort of meaningful impact on someone...no matter how small.

those r probably one of THE best Cillian artwork I have seen. Def get a Cilly Bar for that. I really like the first picture. (I am not sure if that was ur intention) But he rather sad in that picture not like the crazy Dr. Crane but like a gentle one...who was prob made fun of in highshool or something. I love it! (I hope that makes sense) I wanna start drawing too. I useally do oils but I don't have the time anymore. SIGH

Good! Well...study first, and then use art to relax I used to use acrylics...and I started oils about a year ago...and they are SO much easier. You can blend so much better with the oils...if you ever get the chance to learn, DO IT! ps I added another drawing I just finished (I have nooooo psych classes this semester so I have much more time to do stupid drawings)

OMG! So beautiful^^^^^. I too need to pick up my sketch pad again. I was an art major in college and all I did was draw, draw, draw. I did paint a little ( oil, not a fan of acrylic) but I was into mostly drawing and sculpture. Use to get some mean bruises on the back of my legs from sitting at the potter's wheel for hours on end. Damn metal seats.

Thanks very much. I've never worked on a potter's wheel...but I can imagine it how sitting there for so long can take it's toll. I just started scuplting...I'm doing my first plaster cast now.
What did you end up doing after college? Did you stay in the arts?

LOL! Sort of, I guess. I became a stylist. I used to cut hair with out a license since I was like 13. Eye, sculpture, color, play into it a lot. My favorite inspiration for hair is anime. Cool funky, punky shapes for hair. My daugher (11) has really gotten into the cartooning of anime. She is really awesome. I started around the same age she did. I will definately make the resources she needs more available to her than they were to me at that age. It runs in the family. My grandfather (mom's side) painted scenery for the movies and my dad father and my dad are awesome artists. I have a ton of my grandfather's pastel drawing hung in my home. My dad was born and raised in Holland and brough back a TON of art work from all different eras that his uncle gave to him. I have one of the pieces that was done on wood back in the 1700's because of the lack of canvas. I remember looking at if for hours when I was a little girl. I am going to go take a pic of it now. I will be back an post it.

I've worked in oils and acrylics... Oils all the way. Acrylics are okay for things like... Well, cheap crafts and warpaint. Hahah. Washable, you see But oils are just generally better. Too bad they take like 50000 years to dry. That's amazing, by the way

That's really cool that you expanded past the fine arts and have made styling a kind of sculpture.
It must be neat to know that it runs in the family. I have no clue where I got the art bug. No one else in my family is an artist. My parents sent me to art school when I was about 5 because I would go around the house and draw everything. ...and then somewhere down the road I fell in love with psychology and ended up at a science school.......but within the past year I've gotten back into art.

Waiting for the digital camera to charge... yes, I was one of those kids that got in trouble for drawing on the walls, etc. My mom still has my first drawing from when I was 2. It is basically a stick figure, but it has hair, eyelashes, earrings, a necklace, and fingers. She said I told her it was a drawing of her. At the time she didn't realize that a 2 year old shouldn't be drawing with that amount of detail. That doesn't happen until later. My oldest and middle daughter started doing the same, but I knew better and started to show them how light plays with objects, how to make certain things appear closer of further away. Kids are great to teach. They are so free. None of the hang ups, or afraid to make mistakes like adults.

Well it certainly is hereditary then! I'm sure you'll help their talent grow since you're able to understand and appreciate art.
