I managed to get a ticket eventhough it was designated sold out. I went early and there about 20 extra tickets left over. We got good seats, but I guessed the wrong aisle and Cillian sat on the other side.
It was a really fun, sweet movie. Highly recommend. At first I was worried about buying his voice, because it is so deep but after about ten minutes you forget that it is Cillian Murphy which says a lot about his acting.
Anyway, I'm sure you have all seen the photos, his hair looks awesome long. (Is he filming Sunshine now?)Towards the end of the movie he got up and went to the bathroom. During the Q&A he said that this was the first time he had seen the completed film and needed some alone time to process, so he went to the bathroom. The questions weren't that interesting. One woman asked if he felt at all uncomfortable with being so physically intimate with other men, and he said he wasn't, that he would do whatever was needed to 'serve the narrrative' and that he didn't judge people's orientations. He also said he hung out with some London transvestites to get a feel for the character as preparation.
Afterwards, Cillian, Neil Jordan and Liam Neeson were out at the side of the building smoking. This is Canada where you can't smoke anywhere, so you might as well get a cigarette in before the limo and the after party. He signed some autographs and left after his cigarette. I've always heard that this was the Festival where fans get pretty close access to stars. And he was literally less then ten feet away from me. There weren't many people asking for autographs so if anyone wanted they probably could have gotten one.
Did anyone else go?
