The Lightning are playing tonight! Which means I get to watch Guy Boucher emote from the box....mmmmmmmmm.... For those who don't know (and I suspect that's nearly everyone here, lol), he's the coach of the major league ice hockey team in my area, and he's DEAD sexy. Gruff, gravelly voice, expressive eyes, complete Alpha-male persona... and the hottest scar I have ever seen:

I bought the Dungeons and Dragons starter set...my friends and I are going to learn how to play so that way on our Friday Girls Nights, we can have something to do after dinner instead of looking at each other going "...so now what?" lol

Man, we used to play back in the Eighties! Kinda one of the things that got me into writing fiction: we'd get fed up with the eternal die-rolls it took to clear a roomful of something relatively minor, like orcs, so we'd proceed using our character stats and common sense and sort of turn it into group story-telling. I had my share of turns as dungeon-master, that's for sure...!
What's cool about old-school D&D, I think (as opposed to those huge multi-player online games like World of Warcraft), is that you get to do a certain amount of roleplaying (a bonus to a ham like yours truly), and you have to deal with people face to face. Sometimes, if you have someone in the group who takes it just a bit too seriously, things can get intense.
Have fun!

Couldn't ever get into D&D. We were "bandwagon" fans of the game anyhow, meaning that we were the sort of kids who only heard of it after the movie "E.T." featured it. Board games were the BEST, but D&D flummoxed me because a lot of the "rules" didn't make a whole lot of sense. And I didn't care for the fact that one certain player had more power than the others - that chafed me even as a 12-year-old. Didn't take long for me to lose patience and decide I'd have a better time running around outside, trying to give myself heatstroke.

We were playing right around the time that the "big-box" grocery chains started up: we'd play on Saturday night, usually on the not-quite-level pool table in my parents' basement, and around ten o'clock or so we'd pile into my '72 Pinto wagon and go for a snack run to Cub. One of my most vivid memories as dungeon master was looking down at the ball return and realizing I had an open can of Coke in each hand. Yes, sometimes it got lame.

The Bolts are in the semis!!!!! WOOOHOOOOO!!! I know no one cares about this but me, but I had to share this vid of coach Boucher. He possesses such natural presence - he really should have been an actor. Come to think of it, he reminds me of a young Martin Sheen.

But i must say, yum! And that scar....it makes him so much hotter!

Congrats to your team, Pisces! That "Guy" is kind of attractive. I understand what you mean. Reason to be happy: drinking an avocado smoothie while reading manga. ;D

Maybe this should be in the (I'm not happy) thread...but I finally have answers! I've been sick with a really bad cold since.... lets see here.... WAY before St. Paddy's Day of this year. I hate dr's, but I finally decided it was time...I gave into western medicine, ha! Well this whole time I had a sinus infection. Hopefully these antibiotics will help because I seriously feel like I've been dying.
