My boyfriend always teases me by saying Cillian looks like a girl... Although that isn't true and drives me nuts I do can notice that Cillian in fact has some feminine aspects in his looks which can't be denied. Otherwise he wouldn't have been such a great choice for Kitten and Emma. To be honest: Who would be the better, more convincing cross dresser, Cillian or Liam Leeson? But I'm talking only about his face! His body of course isn't feminine at all, quite slender, yes, but NOT feminine. Let's say that he's just MORE feminine than other men. Well... in fact every man has feminine aspects and every woman has masculine ones. You can't draw the line that strict between gender. From the viewpoint of an artist I can say that the reasons why people say Cillian is feminine are IMO most of all his fair, flawless skin, his small nose and his slender neck. Maybe also his round and quite small chin. In general his well balanced, evenly feautures. Lips and eyes... not really, IMO because full lips isn't only a feminine aspect. It's just what society idealizes as feminine beauty.

Cillians face does have some feminine aspects but I wouldn't go as far as saying he looks feminine. Obviously he fooled me when I first saw Breakfast on Pluto but the hair and makeup and his acting was what brought that on.
He has a pretty face, he has those amazing full lips but I wouldn't say it makes him look like a girl... But the 'feminine' aspects to him are a part of what is drawing me to him I guess

Yeah, Shamrocks you're right !! Maybe I have to re-think that part about his chin. . It's ... well... just what I see when I'm drawing him. And drawing is always a sort of personal interpretation too. Something quite subjective. And I'm totally sharing your opinion about the lips, Shamrocks. Full lips have nothing to do with femininity. It's just what men (in general) seem to like more about a woman. And what we see more often in beauty magazines etc. Full red lips... that has an erotic / youth aspect LOL Cheekbones... In general men have stronger bone structure, so the high cheekbones of a man will always look stronger than the high cheekbones of a woman. But what is so bad about saying that Cillian has feminine aspects in his looks? For me personally that's not an insult on his beauty, it's an appreciation for it. In Asia for expl the most beautiful, admired ladykillers are feminine men. In their culture the ideal of beauty for men is femininity. In my opinion a little bit of femininity (and I'm not speaking about a girlish look !!! For Christ's sake NO!! LOL) in a man's face makes him even more beautiful and sexy. It's that slight nuance of femininity which I mean. A man with a face all masculine and hard and edgy is not very beautiful... *thinks about Arnold Schwarzenegger* LOL Please don't get me wrong, Shamrocks !!! I really don't want to offend anybody..... I'm so afraid to hurt the feelings of others !!! Arghh.... I'm just trying, really trying as far as I'm able, to explain what I mean.

Ugh, my mother says he looks like a woman and it drives me nuts!! I agree, he does have some androgynous features, which is why he was perfect for Kitten... but there are some features that are very masculine, for example his jawline and chin area, as well as his forehead. Not saying women don't have prominant jaws and foreheads, but those are definite ways you can tell he is male. He does NOT look like a woman. It frustrates me so much when my mother says that! Anyway... my mother also says "Oh, he's so skinny!", like he's gross or something. Cillian is slim, yes, but he has a gorgeous body, and his body is in no way unattractive. Well, not to me! When someone says skinny I take it to mean unattractively thin, which Cillian certainly is not. I think I need to show my mother his thighs and forearms!

I've studied a good bit of forensic anthropology in my free time (love it!!) and I can't leave this thread untouched. Allow me to preface what's coming with saying that everyone is entitled to their opinion about what makes a masculine/feminine face. Most of our perceptions regarding this are cultural, and that's an unavoidable phenomenon. BUT. Cillian Murphy's face, anthropologically, is not only male but exceedingly male. When it comes to sexual dimorphism in the human skull, what is looked for to identify one as male is "larger, thicker, squarer", and this refers solely to actual bone structure. Soft tissue features such as lips, nose, and actual orbits (eyeballs themselves), do not factor in whatsoever. There are certain feaures in a male skull that are pinpoints of identification - they will typically be (and in Cillian's case, they are) larger and/or more prominent. First, the browbone,or supraorbital ridge: (I'm going to use Leon as a visual aid because his whole face is so visible...and yummy) As we see here, it's very prominent. Next, we look at the glabella - the space just above the nose and between the eyes, which on a male skull is typically prominent. Again, we see that Cillian's is, indeed, very prominent. (feel your own... if you're a girl, it's nice and flat!) Then there is the mandible. We all love Cillian's jawline!! It is oh so male - being square, larger, and with the typical male square chin as well. The thicker, rougher muscles of the male mandibular structure are also another clue, and we all are familiar with Cillian's legendary jaw muscles. So. If an anthropologist were to find Cillian's skull a thousand years from now, he or she would have no trouble whatsoever classifying it as a male skull. As I said at the beginning, this is the biological angle on the debate. If a person views Cillian as feminine, they are likely zeroing in on the soft tissue features of his eyes and lips, because full lips and blue eyes are, for some reason, often regarded as feminine features. I think it's worth pointing out that the obsession with full lips as female is a relatively new one in our entertainment culture - less than a century ago, it was small, rosebud lips that were considered the epitome of feminine delicateness on a woman. I myself remember people laughing at Molly Ringwald in 1984 for her "duck lips", which are now all the rage. LOL. So, cultural perceptions of what is desirable/attractive/masculine/feminine can change, and often quickly. What does not change are the facts of what identify a human skull as male or female. All of this might be why I've never viewed Cillian as having anything other than a very masculine face. He can put on all the lipstick he wants - he's a male. All the way.

Pisces thank you so much for sharing that, can I just say that I love stuff like that? (my fave thing was the study of death bodies when I was a kid) and now when you say it I do see it.
It's just that extremely masculine men still scare me I guess, I fall for men with a bit of feminine touch to them, thereby not saying I'm particularly looking for gender-benders or what ever (wouldn't mind it though) but masculine men just aren't for me...
This wasn't something anyone said but I just have to share this... My day has been filled with so much Cillian!
First I found my ticket stub from when I went to see Tron Legacy last year in my wallet! (I really need to get it sorted) and I just couldn't help but smile...
Then my mothers Aunt took me out for lunch and we went shopping, going into the second hand store I looked for a silver fur just for laughs, (you know like Kitten buys Charlie a fur?) and I found a LOVELY fake black fur and it was very affordable too so I bought it! The next store I go into I bump into a girl who looks exactly like Charlie from BOP and I have to bite my tongue not to say 'Charlie Darling!'

I don't think he's skinny but there were some pictures a few years back, had me thinking he was a bit too thin. I'm so curious and can't wait to see how tall he is. I'm definitely wearing flat shoes just in case I get a chance to stand near him at the play. My prediction... no taller than 5'6 My boyfriend set up an account online for his brother so he could sell some things. So when his brother finally used the website for the first time at our house, he signed in and noticed my boyfriend used one of the Cillian pictures I had saved on the computer for his profile. I heard his brother all pissed off in the other room saying "what the f*ck is that thing?!!!" I was heartbroken. (That thing)...that wasn't nice to say!!!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Pisces! Pretty interesting stuff. I knew about the jaw and brows for sure, but didn't know about the area between them. I love stuff like this, too, and yes all of those things are indeed prominent on Cillian. Just as an experiment I asked my mother what it is about Cillian that she thinks makes him look feminine, and the first thing she said was his full lips and his eyes! So you're exactly right, Pisces, people seem to associate full lips with females. If you ask me, I'd take full lips on a man over thin ones any day, especially Cilly's. Yummy.

^okay okay he's 5'9, haha. but............... I saw your pic before, can't tell exactly. He doesn't look tiny though. I don't know who to believe you or Razz because she stood next to him also. Hopefully I'll have the chance to find out myself. Oh and I'm pretty good at measuring things too and sizing things up. Sometimes help my boyfriend at his job, he's a carpenter. Also....I use to throw tires at a good year warehouse,...the forklift rack I threw the tires onto was exactly 5'9. yup, I cursed at the height of that rack for 10 hrs straight everyday. so we'll see ;D

My father today... "I wanted to rent a movie while you were in town, so checked what was on the VOD. I found a horror movie, and the guy on the image looked like Sillian Mourphy, so I rented it. - Was it 28 days later? - No, some sh*tty remake of an old movie I used to love. I thought "hey, these are not the eyes, this is not Sillian Mourphy!" It was not. It was the guy who plays superman in Smallville. Mourphy owes me a coffee AND 3 euros now."
I swear, I was laughing so much I almost died! xD

,,, So I have no life and I'm still on that chat site I found talking to men calling myself Kitten...
This guy I am talking to right now just described Cillian to me when having to describe himself... everything from the blue eyes, the height, freckles, and even the same haircut...
I know he is most likely lying... but OMFG

You guys, these are AWESOME. II am having so much fun. And Jinx, that was so funny! I could totally here the way he says Cillian...
Me and my teacher are always talking about Mr. Murphy. So it was halloween, and we were forced to some cruddy Disney movie, and I said "Cant we watch a horror movie....yknow, something like 28 days later?" And he goes. "Okay. One, 28 days later is a wicked movie. two, Cillian Murphy is an amazing actor. But three, I don't think it would be appropriate to watch in a grade 7/8 class." You could totally tell he wanted to watch it though! So we started talking about all the creepy scenes, and this was out in the hall so all of my friends were listening in on the conversation. It was so fun!
My sister was talking to me the other day and said something that made me laugh myself silly. I had a bought this AWESOME Jonathan crane mask for Halloween, and my sister put it on and said, "Would you like to see my eyes? I use them in my experiments. Probably not very beautiful to a guy like you. But these fangirls, they cant stand it." I was laughing sooooo hard! She is so funny...
Also at school, we were having a bet that I couldn't say Cillian, or anything relating him, for a day. It was so difficult! So they kept on saying, "Hey, you know that really ugly guy, Sillian Murphy?" I eventually gave up and said Cillian, like, 87 times in a row. I owe them a lot of money...or Halloween candy, I don't know.
