I just got "The Way We Live Now" from Nexflix and have watched the first couple of episodes. Cillian is so adorable in this and I really like the character he plays. Has anyone else seen this? (I couldn't find a thread on it on the forum.)

Nicely put, paddykitten. He plays such a nice, normal guy in this one. (Not that I don't love his many other diverse roles!) Cillian is so charming in the first episode when he (Paul) enters the Ball and asks Hetta to dance. I was so overwhelmed that I almost choked on the apple I was eating

i mean, i love the crazy characters more than anything...
haha, i know... my mom watched the 1st episode with me... and she... um... well, thinks its funny to make fun of me and my obsession... (*gest huffy* which it isnt! hmph)... so were watching and when he first came on, and theyre running through the woods i was trying desperately to not get all flustered and excited, and the only way i could think of was to make my self something to eat while (secretely) watching, and my mom looked really suprised bc she thought that i wasnt... wait, i forgot what my original point was... anyway, it was hard, bc he was really charming... but by the time they were at the dance, i was just completely absorbed... and enraptured...
actually, the only parts that we didnt make fun of were the parts with him... bc they were so sweet! aww... the rest, while i liked it, was so easy to make fun of bc its that kind of pompous-mid 19th C-british-drama thats so funny and exaggerated... but neither of us could bring ourselves to say anything snarky about him ;D so good job cillian! haha...
did you finish it yet?

I have the rest of episode 2 to finish tonight, then I will have to wait a day or two to get the second disk (episodes 3 & 4) from Netflix. I know what you mean about the typical C-British-drama, but I am enjoying it a lot. And, as always, Cillian's acting is great. I also think that Matthew McFayden is so funny in this, and it is weird seeing him in this role after first seeing him in "Pride and Prejudice."

oh man, that is him in pride and prejudice... i was trying to figure out where i had seen him before... i love the scene where its just different clips of him getting ready, practicing what he was going to say or someething... so funny
ok, i wont ruin it for you then... yeah, its addictive though... i was in the middle of midterms, and i was only going to watch the 1st one... but then after the last 5 min i just had to watch the second one... i mean, there really was no way around it...

Oh no, just as I feared: a big cliff-hanger at the end of disk one and I am going to be annoyed having to wait for disk two to arrive. The scene you described with M. McFayden was so funny! I assume you were talking about the one in TWWLN, but I just remembered there was a similar scene in Pride and Prejudice when he was rehearsing what to say to Elizabeth with his friend (while standing by the creek).

I really enjoyed watching this (and wasn't expecting to), the casting is great, especially Cillian & Shirley H.

I love TWWLN!! I bought it and just fell in love with it. Paul is such a cutie. The nice part is that my mom and all my friends watched this willingly because it's the kind of movie they enjoy. I warned all of them before we started, tho. "I have one rule about watching this. If you don't have anything nice to say about Cillian, don't say anything at all! In return, I'll try not to squee to loudly over him." ;D So much fun. The first time I saw it and he came on screen, I was watching it with my mom and I still jumped up and moved really close to the screen and giggled, and was like, "MOM, THERE HE IS!!" So ya....you did better than me paddykitten. LOL. Anyway, I liked this.

(haha, i tend to watch cillian films when no one is home, teehee) yeah, i really liked shirly henderson in this also... i really like her in general...

I thought Shirley Henderson looked familiar, but I couldn't quite place her. When I heard her voice, I thought, "It's Moaning Myrtle!"

& Sally in Intermission! She's too cool in my book. I realllly think we need screencaps of Cill, with his cowboy hat, on the horse.

and spud's girlfriend in trainspotting (where her voice is... normal... i always feel bad bc shes really talented, but i keep on thinking that she gets cast in specific roles for her voice...)
and i agree!! haha, everytime he put the hat on... i kindof wanted to laugh... maybe its bc cowboys make me think of george bush and his ranch and his hat (ugh) [oh man, and miranda otto's accent... i mean, texan accents are not my favorite, but a bad texan accent *cringe*] i say lets get lots of pics of him in his fancy british-gentlemen clothing... or just pics in general... hey, its all good
question: do you think the sideburns were his real hair?
anyone else notice that he kisses in a very specific way? (course, i paid special attention to these scenes, haha)
