Ted 9/10 - This actually turned out to be a LOT better than I thought it would be. It was so freakin' funny! I find a lot of comedies these days seem like they're trying too hard to be funny, but Ted was absolutely hilarious! I really enjoyed this one.

Rene Hjerter 7/10
I read the book in school when I was about 11 I think, it's about this young man who is mentally unstable, ends up hitting his mother with a frying pan and is taken to a mental hospital... He has an old movie called 'Rene Hjerter' (Innocent Hearts) and he watches it all the time and is obsessed with the main character, Linda... he runs from the hospital when he finds out Linda is played by an actual woman and he has to meet her...
It's funny, I read the book once, so many years ago and I still remember it, watching the movie just brings me back... what's funny is that in some ways his obsession can be compared to me and Breakfast on Pluto... who would have known?

The Abyss 10/10GOSH how I love this movie. Even in the over-lengthy directors cut LOL Watched it last weekend with my boyfriend while eating Pizza. I really love the message and the whole dramatic and moving ending and let me tell you, I cry every time... It's so beautiful... I think the movie and its story is wonderfully built and structured from A to Z Also it has some shocking moments, as well as deeply touching ones. Maybe the movie is a bit kitchy at times, but not in a way that would annoy me. (Spoilerisch for peope who haven't seen it) The only flaw maybe is that after the dramatic end sequence the movie fades out to a suggestion of positveness about how humanity will change after this event, that seems a bit rushed and unreal to me. I think humanity will feel threatened by these creatures who can control water more than anything else.... LOL And maybe they would start to fight them... (But maybe I just have not enough confidence in humanity LOL) But however, the message is great!

Shame, with Michael Fassbender. 5/10 I had mixed feelings about the film,seeing such a self-destructive portrayals (that of a sex-addict and Carey Mulligan as a reincident suicidal) made me feel pshycologically claustrofobic. I was shocked by the explicit sex scenes, almost pornographic, although I understood that they were absolutely necessary to show Fassbender's obssesive behaviour. I wondered if Cillian, if offered the part, should have accepted to portray that tormented character, yet magnetic. Do you know if he has ever talked about how he feels on doing sex scenes? Well, in fact I had never seen him on any of those, except that bed scene with Keyra Knigthley, and that was beautiful. Do you think that he would reject a good script if it includes explicit sex scenes? What's his take on that?

I think if the script isn't dumb and he is drawn to it that's all that matters.

A couple of days ago i watched;
The Tree Of Life. Starring Brad Pitt, Jassica Chastain an Hunter McCracken.10/10
I wanted to see this in the cinema but i kept putting it off until eventually it was gone! And now after watching it on tv i'm kicking myself for not going to see it on a big screen! The scenes where it shows stars exploding and all that stuff from space, and even the shots of the volcanoes exploding....it's all just so incredibly beautiful and i'd say it would've been stunning in the cinema. Anyway, moving on to other aspects, Brad Pitt is in stand out form. One of his best performances after Twelve Monkeys, Fight Club and The Assassination of Jesse James in my opinion. He is truly intimidating and unnerving as the stern and unpredictable father of three boys. Jessica is brilliant as usual but i have to mention the boy who played Jack, Hunter McCracken, who is outstanding even when put alongside veteren Brad. I'll be looking out for him in the future.
If you were unaware of what the film was about and thought it was just going to be a family drama, i can see people being very confused when the scenes with dinosaurs and planets show up. But if you know it's about God and religion and one boys struggle to understand all of this then i think you should enjoy this very beautiful ethereal film full of great performances. I definitely recommend it.
And last night i watched;
Training Day. Starring Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington. 8/10
I'd been meaning to watch this film for ages and i can't say i was disappointed. A really gripping cop drama with an original story. Denzel and Ethan were great together and i just loved it. It makes you think how many corrupt cops are there out there? It's scary really but the movie did a great job of making a believable story and bringing the subject matter to light.

Bronson - 9/10
It''s been a couple of weeks since I saw this movie, but it's still on my mind. Indies should not be merely low-budget; they should also blow the doors off convention, carve out a new space in the genre for themselves and bolt themselves into it. Bronson does this. It's a brilliant, brave piece of moviemaking, and Tom Hardy was absolutely electrifying. What a fearless performance,almost Daniel Day-Lewis-esque. It's one of the best movies I've seen all year.

"Don't worry, son. You'll be out in four." Brilliant, bizarre Bronson. I watched this again last week too. It's just wonderfully odd. Brave. Memorable. As you said, Pisces, everything an indie should be.
I watched an Irish film called Wake Wood the other night. It was an example of a God-awful low budget horror (bit like Red Lights in that sense). Beautiful scenery and a decent actor in the male lead role (kept trying to picture Cillian) but it was just a massive cluster of horror cliche.

Friends with Kids 1.5/10
It was awful...like seriously...it felt like the only premise of the movie was to promote promiscuity and banish marriage.
Not even Jon Hamm or Chris O'Dowd could save this movie.

Just watched Lawless again on a sh*tty cam online. The subtlety contained within a film that prides itself on visceral violence is pretty brilliantly juxtaposed, I have to say. How the movement of a hat and the turn of an eye can define and express a 'feeling' between two characters better than a whole merciless wad of dialogue can. How a muffled word can say more than a two page monologue can. There's something wonderful in that. And, unbelievably, Shia LeBoeuf doesn't embarrass himself. I'll give it 8/10, methinks. If you amend a quote slightly it's quite fitting. "It is not the violence that sets a man apart. It is the distance that he is prepared to go." This could easily refer to an acting career if you replace 'violence' with another word. It's the distance he is prepared to go in so many ways that makes for a standout career. Tonight I'm going to brave a Cillian flick. Not sure which yet. I think it'll end up being 28 Days Later. My life is an utter mess. Might as well watch London fall

Premium Rush. Starring Joseph Gordon Levitt, Michael Shannen. 8/10I was so happy with this movie, i'd been looking forward to it for ages but had a feeling it might turn out to be very mundane. I was competely wrong, they did manage to make it really exciting and nail bitingly intense at some points. Great soundtrack, great performances as usual from Levitt and Shannen and just a really enjoyable, fun, action packed movie that's really quite original. I defintiely recommend it.

Got my birthday present early, from my dad the Purple Rose of Cairo - Mia Farrow I have a certain fondness for a few films by Woody Allen, and Purple Rose of Cairo is now one of my favorites. Funny, sad, romantic, realistic and not realistic at the same time. All my classmates recommended the movie to me, saying I was kind of like the main character (she talks about movies and actors all the time, I'm sure you can relate with yourselves too ). I highly recommend it if you haven't already seen it. Dreamy and nice... An great one. 19/20
