I've seen these on some other forums and thought I would start one on here (I searched for a thread like it and couldn't find one). You simply state the last movie you saw (in theaters or DVD, TV, etc. ... doesn't matter) and then you rate it (-/10, or -/5, whatever). You can give a few comments as well.
I guess I'll start then.
Alien 8/10 - First time seeing it. I was so worried about Jones (the cat) half the movie even though he was freaking people out most of the time. And I found the chestburster alien kinda cute. Reminded me of that scene in Spaceballs (also a good movie) with it singing and dancing.

Good thread topic!!! I watched three movies in the last two days, haha, so I can't help but include all of them here ... French Kiss10/10 - Meg Ryan was hysterical and so was Kevin Kline. Their relationship was so cute and funny. I loved everything about this movie. Even though Timothy Hutton (whom I'm obsessed with, haha) was sort of a jerk in it, I loved him too! Great romantic comedy, one of the best, not cheesy, done so well! French Kiss(because it is on Veoh TV, you must have the program downloaded, after program is downloaded you must click on the orange button on the right which says "Watch on VeohTV," otherwise the link will only lead you to a five minute clip of the film) Wimbledon9/10 I LOVED Paul Bettany in it and surprisingly Kirsten Dunst didn't annoy me! I thought it was really funny and cute and of course James McAvoy was in it and he was extremely sexy and funny! Wimbledon(link leads to a forum post which contains four links to the film as it is posted in four parts) The Other Boleyn Girl7-8/10 I was surprised that I liked the movie as much as I did. I was very interested to see what would happen between Eric, Scarlet and Natalie. The movie didn't disappoint. The Other Boleyn Girl(post edited with links to the films added)

Thanks for starting this great thread, quackattack! Let's see, I just saw... The Golden Compass 8/10 I haven't read the book, but I really liked this movie! It had great visual effects and excellent performances by Daniel Craig, Nicole Kidman, Eva Green, and especially by newcomer Dakota Blue Richards. It's a children's movie with darker themes, and I'd recommend it to anybody who's a fan of the Harry Potter and Narnia series. The Secret Garden (1993) 8/10 Yeah, I finally found my copy and watched it again. I'd watched it before years ago, and it's still a great movie to me now. Gorgeous cinematography and lovely performances from the young cast. A terrific movie for the whole family to watch. Ever After 8/10 Watched it a long time ago, and just watched it again recently due to nostalgia. It's a great retelling of the Cinderella story - it was funny, romantic, dramatic, heart-wrenching, and up-lifting. A nice period film with a modern feel. The Other Boleyn Girl7-8/10 I was surprised that I liked the movie as much as I did. I was very interested to see what would happen between Eric, Scarlet and Natalie. The movie didn't disappoint. Oh, wow. I'm surprised that you liked it, kaatopp! I don't think we've ever disagreed on a movie before, have we? I respect your opinion though. With this movie, it's either you hate it (like me) or you love it. There's not really any in between, at least from what I heard.

There's not really any in between, at least from what I heard. lol, Rukia, I am also replying to you from the Jim Sturgess post you just made. I am surprised I liked The Other Boleyn Girl too, haha, I am trying to think of reasons why in fact! You are so right, Eric Bana was basically useless in the film, did nothing profound, it wasn't a credit to his acting skill. I think I told you in another post a while ago that I saw the trailer for the film for a survey that was conducted at a movie theater and I just thought it looked so awful. Well I finally saw it and it just wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I was pretty interested in the disturbing relationship going on between Scarlet and Natalie. I may have liked it also because I have been stuck in my apartment all weekend cat sitting a crazy cat hahaha, so the movie kept me entertained ... who knows, I am just as surprised as you. It is not that I would say the movie is really good, I would just say that I liked it haha. I just watched another movie (I have an addiction to online movies haha) ... Gegen die Wand - German - Translated as "Head On" on imdb, but as someone who studied in Germany, I would translate it as "Against the Wall," I suppose both would work though to convey a meaning about the film.... 8-9/10 - A beautiful, sad, tragic but happy love story between two Turkish-German citizens, a young woman and an older man, who both try to commit suicide, meet and arrange a marriage to please the family of the Turkish girl. An unlikely match, filled with differences and anger, plus an odd living arrangement eventually leads to them falling in love. I really liked the movie, both characters have a lot of baggage and demons to deal with but heal each other through their strange relationship. The film didn't receive a perfect rating because I was not completely happy with the ending but it was still a truly beautiful love story none the less .... and of course, here is a link to the film in case anyone is interested, I REALLY recommend it. Gegen die Wand

Yeah uh, we watched High School Musical 2 today in one of my classes. I actually liked it better than the first so it wasn't that bad. I'd give it about a 6.5

Uhhhh, HM2...I don't even have anything to comment on that other than to say I'm ashamed to admit that it was filmed at my highschool. I am so not a fan of those movies!
Penelope I have to say that I loved this movie! The acting was not oscarr worthy and the storyline, while unique, was not impressing, but I loved it! It was just a cute and sweet movie that literally had me sighing with delight. James McAvoy and Christina Ricci were great as there characters, and I loved the end.
*spoiler alert* (probably not necessary, but just being cautious)
When he kissed he at the end, I think I melted off my chair. I really am in love with this show which in and of itself is rather odd. I tend to be the action/adventure kind of person, but this movie really did it for me.

I really agree bookworm! The way he grabbed her arm and kissed her, oooowahh! haha, and a song from my favorite band, Sigur Ros, started playing at the same time too, it was perfect!

Speed Racer It was a whole lot better than I expected. Then again, I wasn't expecting much, but this movie was fun in a just-much on-popcorn-and-enjoy-the-ride kind of way. And Emile Hirsch is my newest love. He's so cute and talented (though much better looking with short hair), especially in Into the Wild. <3
All in all, I'd give it a 7/10.

What Happens In Vegas... 4/10 Ugh, I don't know why I saw this movie. It's pretty terrible. It's overly cheesy, unnecessarily gross, incredibly annoying, completely predictable with an absolutely stupid premise. Ashton so cannot act!! WTD was soo much better than this load of crap. I still don't know why I saw this movie... I guess I could blame the happy hour drinks and my friends. It was either this or Made of Honor. I was suggesting Iron Man but was outvoted...

I usually watch a lot more movies, but with finals I haven't had a lot of time. But I took a break this weekend and watched Aliens with my boyfriend.
Aliens 6.5/10 - A lot of people seem to like this better than its prequel, Alien. I think Alien is more suspenseful and a better movie overall. Aliens was more of an action shoot-em-up movie. I also didn't like most of the characters in Aliens, so I didn't care what happened to them like I did in Alien. The only redeeming part to me was the Queen.

Rush Hour 3 5/10 I saw this last night, and was highly dissapointd. The first two films were somewhat entertaining and had cool kung foo action, but this one tried way too hard. The ending was so anticlimactic, and the storyline was not resolved at all. Granted, it is a Jackie Chan movie with the gag jokes and a** kicking, but I wouldn't reccommend it.

just finished "lars and the real girl"...7/10. Its a sweet story about the human heart...
An American Crime (ellen page)..7/10. I think more could have been done with this movie. I highly reccomend everyone to see it as it is based on a true story (although they left A LOT out). Has anyone else seen it?
Into the Wild 7/10-interesting story but slow
The commitments 7/10--hmm, a lot of 7/10's. This one was recommended by someone on a board about the movie InterMission. Funny Irish humor.
Juno 9/10. Just a cute lil flick.
Sorry I listed a bunch but those are the ones I have watched in the last week and are still fresh.

I liked Lars and the Real Girl, too, pignme. It was a very touching and funny (not laugh-out loud funny) film. Ryan Gosling was pretty good in it. I'd give it a 7.5/10.
Ashleyrose and pignme, I really liked Juno, too. It was a very smart and quirky comedy with great performances from the whole cast, even Jennifer Garner surprisingly. I'd give it an 8.5/10.
As for me, I just saw...
The Center of the World (2001) 7/10 I thought this one was just going to be a raunchy sex film, but it turned out better than I thought. It's a low-budget, indie film shot all on digital film - which actually works in its benefit, making it feel really real and raw. I thought the performances from the lead actors, Peter Sarsgaard and Molly Parker, felt really honest and real. Peter played his part as the computer geek millionaire really well, and the same with Molly as the stripper. The sex scenes felt a bit gratuitous at times, but I guess they were supposed to be that way. There's a lot of nudity, but the sex scenes were not too graphic except for the part in the strip club. I was more drawn into the characters rather than the sex scenes, and I really felt their inner turmoil. The film started out pretty good to me in the beginning, but it kinda feel apart towards the end, which is why it earned a 7/10 for me.

Today I saw The Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian and Psycho 2. They were both actually pretty good in my opinion but, surprisingly I found myself liking Psycho 2 better then Narnia. ;D But I give them both a rating of 8.
