If you could ask Cillian Murphy one question, what would it be? ( be serious no can I lick your eyeball questions ) I'll start: Some actors look at the whole script before choosing a role while others base their choices mainly on the character they will portray. What factors do you take into consideration in choosing a role?

Hmm...think my one would have to be:
"Is your decision to never play a villian again absolutely set in stone for the future? Would you never consider playing a type of villian who is different to the types of characters you played in Batman Begins and Red Eye - if to you it was interesting and challenging enough?"
I know that's really two questions lol! But I would have to include the second as a way of elaborating on what I meant with the first.

My question for Cillian Murphy or any other actor come to that - Given that we all as individuals create our own moral boundaries, would there be any kind of behaviour exhibited by a character that would make the role impossible for him to accept? Is it possible to dissassociate enough to play a character that goes against everything he might hold dear? Even if that character is fictional? Child molester, rapist, serial killer - is there a cut off point somewhere? That's three questions, sorry. Ah, and can I lick his eyeb...never mind.

Just between you and me, professionally (and with names not named, or changed to protect the guilty, and on an oath that your response will never see print either on paper or in pixels): Any regrets, Cillian? Any role you've taken, any project you've participated in, where you've looked back and thought, Damn. I could have done-- I should have done-- that other thing instead....?

Nice thread idea, Seabreeze!
I would ask him what his process was in the beginning of his career in terms of preparing for a role, how that changed over time, and what it is now. How does he rehearse, if he does very much of that.
He doesn't seem to talk about his process very much. I wonder if he's a procrastinator/instinctual type or if he thinks through multiple motivations for his characters ahead of time, etc.
I'd also ask him if he ever reads smutty RPF that crazy fans write about him, and if it disturbs him, makes him laugh or turns him on. And perchance, has he read my series...? JUST KIDDING. This is why I could never ever speak to him. I'd die of embarrassment on the spot.

Melt_Girl you would not die of embarrassment . I have no doubt that he's taken a peek, that is he has googled himself just for satisfying his curiousity. An actor is just a regular person, no more, no less.

He doesn't seem to talk about his process very much. I wonder if he's a procrastinator/instinctual type I've wondered the same thing! Could certainly be a possible reason as why his acting career hasn't been more active in recent times than it has been. I'd also ask him if he ever reads smutty RPF that crazy fans write about him, and if it disturbs him, makes him laugh or turns him on. lol! That's a very good question. Although you're not the only one who would feel awkard/embarassed about asking him it! I'd be more than a little worried that the response might be a negative one! Even though of course it's just as possible it wouldn't be.

I don't think that the smutty RPF would arouse him simply because it isn't erotic. I think he would be amused though.

I'd be more worried about the legal implications. Dreaming up "erotic" scenarios between fictional characters is one thing; writing real people-- by name-- into potentially compromising graphic sexual situations, even under the label of "fic," and then publishing that fic on the internet, seems to be quite another thing altogether. I would be tempted to keep such a question to my (blushing) self.

Another thing I can't help wondering, is if he's ever looked at any of the Red Eye fan fics that have been put up online (for example on Fanfiction.net) and what he's thought of them if he has. Considering that, going by the one's I've looked at so far, that I've found quite a few of them to be incredibly well written - I do wonder what his impression would have been, if he ever got round to reading any of them...or indeed any of the other fan fics based on any of the other movies he's been in i.e. 28 Days Later, Batman Begins etc.
Anyways though, realising I'm being a bit cheeky here by defeating the purpose of the thread just a little with my rambles. Over to the next persons question! ;D

Only questions I can think of right now.... I know you only said one question but I don't care. lol Which of your characters (movie or stage play) would you say is most like you in real life and why? If you had to choose between acting on stage or on screen which would you choose and why?
