You know, I just watched Disco Pigs - again, blown away. He does seem to do all these dark roles and with so much ease. Like it's so easy for him to slip into those characters (hence my frustration at all those who don't past his looks) ...
And I was lurking around the forum today and found another link to a thread discussing which song you'd like for Cillian. Some one had done a take on "Cilling me softly with his song" which I thought was very clever.
And now after reading all your posts and discussions, I finally have mine. It applies both, to the movie and to the way I feel about him - to the movie in how he feels about Runt and to me because he cannot come into my universe as it is right now - it seems like a distant impossible dream, that is so frustrating, and yet - what would life be without him? What was life before this person to look up to and admire?
So my song is: With or without you - U2
I can't live with or without you....

I love that song! U2 is a good band, I like a lot of thier song. I think, and hope, that I'll be able to get Disco Pigs this weekend, if not then next weekend and I'm going to watch it till I drive either my mom crazy or myself crazy with it....mom will be going first

Trust me, you'd have to watch the movie a billion times, and there'd still be nuances you would miss.
I saw the movie yesterday again, after I browsed around here, looking for other people's views on this most unusual and intoxicating film.
Here's my take on it. Runt is possibly the central narrator but she somehow comes across as if she's not quite as natural. With Cillian, you are never seeing Cillian. You are always seeing Pig/Darren. Always. In that bathroom scene, or in the bedroom scene (where he talks about being with her physically) - you are seeing insecure little Pig.
And that's what's amazing and why people here seem to have all of this trouble answering the "what would do if you were Lisa" question. It's because this guy takes each role and makes it his own. It's as if without changing his physical appearance much, he becomes a different person. Think about how different Dr. Crane/Jackson Rippner/Jim the delivery guy/Pig are visually.
Pig is the little kid that never quite grew up Dr. Crane is the eternal geek turned villan Jackson is the lethal but lovable assassin Jim is the bold/bald action hero-type
This is what I was thinking about when I wrote how easily he seems to slip into these dark roles. He BECOMES the character, so that you never see Cillian - you always see the character.
Thoughts?

You are so right. As if he wasn't hot enough what makes Cillian really attractive is that he's incredibly talented. I've seen him in eight movies and in The Way We Live Now and he never looks the same twice - he can disappear into a role the way few actors can. Despite having the distinctive eyes, lips and bone structure, he somehow manages to make them look different every time.
Disco Pigs is one of my favourite movies and the performances of Cillian and Elaine Cassidy were fantastic. I like that he takes roles where his character doesn't always come out on top.

I have just seen Disco Pigs for the first time . It is very difficult for me to express an impression of the movie. When I saw this trailer for the first time,I felt Disco Pigs is cute and happy movie from it. But The movie is not only these images, and has something deeper. The movie has become one of my favourite movie. But, there is one big problem! Disco Pigs DVD has no Subtitles... I can't understand the details of their conversation ! hahaha

im sorry eko that stinks! about his acting though, he just has an incredibly expressive face. he can darken his eyes and glower, he can flip out, he can be scared and want to die, he can be a clueless, regular dude. but wherever he is, he takes you there. i imagine it might be intimidating for some actors to work with him. i think elaine cassidy did an excellent job, she was sharp and into their little games. however, when taken out of familiar surroundings, she adjusted quite well. cuz she was a survivor, and had figured people out very early in life. he was astounding, but i got a lot from her as well. personally though, i am still fascinated by 28 days later. everything about it, especially his character. after seeing it a bunch of times, you realize he never changed. he always had strength and hope and compassion, and almost anyone would react like that to having theirs and the lives of people they care about threatened. the whole men= hunter/gatherer thing.
sorry for the novel

That is one the the best things about him as an actor, he has such a talent to get into the character so well that as pluto said you almost forget he's Cillian because he becomes the character.

I am in awe over Cillian's acting ability. It was an excellent movie. I also wondered if Runt was going to kill herself. Did they make love in the beach scene? What a dumb question-Sorry.

Yep, they made love over there. I don't think she killed herself at the end though.

She didn't kill herself. That's why she asks Pig's spirit, "Where to, hey pal? Where to?".

that´s all I can say too. Saw the movie today for the first time today and I´m between confused, sad, blown away and sth. else I can´t really describe. Cillian was absolutely fantastic I really didn´t expect it. I can´t add anything more to what has been said already. But as happened to all of you the love scene (how sweet!) and the last scene broke my heart!!
