Judging from their last posts Shannon have been here the most recently being Feb 1 2008. Not that posting gives any kind of definitive answer. It seems like Tanya1976 was here around that time too but else all signs points that the mods disappeared earlier than Shannon

Cool. I can't be the one to start it, but perhaps the active users here might want to start a petition to propose to make someone like ashleyrose an admin (sole or second). Then, after you gather the signatures in a thread here, send the wording and list of supporters to Shannon at tearcharmer [at] hotmail [dot] com.

Oh yeah I know they don't have them !, but at least a moderator in the meanwhile would have been better than nothing I think... too sad that they're all gone , becasue the board is alive

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but Shannon is firmly opposed to the idea. For some reason, she wants to hold on to the master keys of this forum even though she hasn't been around regularly in 2 years. She got very angry when we suggested that The CillianSite Collective administer the forum as active, reliable Cillian Murphy fans who spend time over here regularly. She was deeply suspicious, even though my emails to her on our behalf were quite forthright and honest about why we were offering. If it was all about some weird idea of our own glory, we would have started our own forum; but that's not where we're coming from. We want to insure the long-term health and vitality of this forum and its existing community, because we can envision Shannon ultimately disappearing permanently, and the master keys with her. And even if she doesn't disappear completely, the forum suffers with outdated announcements and potential delays with tech or copyright problems since she's never around. We offered our commitment to safeguard the forum and she basically replied with what she said in this thread (which she created right after we approached her): "No, Jo gave the forum to me." That seems to be what's most important to her: the status of ownership, even though she's no longer an active Cillian fan.

So basically what I'm suggesting in the thread above is that somebody else who cares about the longevity of this forum should try to communicate with Shannon and give her a proposal of some kind. Maybe multiple people should, or maybe someone should start a petition and send that to her. Maybe she'll listen to someone else and allow someone to be a second admin for this forum.

Yeah, I don't think she wants to give this place away to anyone else. She hasn't answered my email and it's been a week since I sent it. It doesn't make sense to me though, I mean why be the top admin of a forum that you don't even really care about. And she must not because she never gets on here. I agree with rukia that she should have let melty_girl be the new admin. She's the one with all the latest news on Cillian and not just the gossip either. I think she would be the best person to help keep this site up. I would hate to come on here one day and see this place was no longer here because our own admin forgot about us!

I can't say that I am surprised by any of this, but I do hope something will happen. Perhaps a nice little miracle - and if not a new Cillian community will probably open somewhere else. But it would prefer this place to stay alive.

I had no idea about all these. It's really sad, I don't think any of us would like to come here one day and discover the site is gone! May be if we all start sending e-mails or something she'll react... hopefully.
I know I'm new, but I've been visiting the site for over a year now (lol) so I'm completely honest when I say I wouldn't like the site to disappear into thin air.

I'm very worried about this place being left with no moderators or administrators at all - beside little things like moving topics and so on there are situations where a moderator is needed , for example flamers and trolls.... I hope we won't get any of them because if it happens we can't do nothing at all

Wow- just read this thread for the first time and it's so sad. I personally think it's terribly selfish of Shannon to pop in once a year or so just to say "MINE" and then go off and live her life without looking back. While I can understand her feeling of personal connection to the site since it was pseudo-bequeathed to her by Jo, that argument loses its relevancy when Shannon herself admits to having no interest in the forum. Now I'm full of righteous indignation. Ahem. Drumming my fingers... staring up at the ceiling... trying to calm myself....

Okay. Whew.

I don't know what can be done here. I'm just venting because this sort of thing really chars my toast. I'd hate to see something happen to this forum and there be no way to fix it. I know I'm somewhat a newbie (coming up on two years for me), but I think melty_girl would make an excellent moderator and it shocks me that Shannon would have taken offense to the suggestion. Because face it, this is a PUBLIC forum... which means it's not as if this is, by definition, something that one person can hold personally as something that belongs to them alone.

To Shannon: How about giving the forum to somone who DOES care about it? Huh? Huh? (prod, prod)

I don't know, but the email address worked in the beginning of the year.

I urge those of you who care about the forum to get together and contact Shannon. You may want to start a petition thread here, and then point her to it or send her the signatures, since lurkers may decide to sign. Or maybe you guys have a better idea for how to reach her. But whether you act individually or collectively, you may not want to propose me as an admin, since she has already taken offense to the suggestion. I think the bottom line is that someone active should have the master keys, but it doesn't have to be me or The CillianSite Collective. It just shouldn't be someone who doesn't ever come around anymore.
